First, I want to say I appreciate everyone helping the staff out by reporting violations. This helps us get things taken care of much quicker and more efficiently than if we were trying to do it on our own.

However, I would like to clarify a little bit on what exactly needs to be reported. We are seeing more and more posts being reported that really don't need to be, which is really slowing us down as far as getting things taken care of that really need to be taken care of. So, I think there is some confusion about what exactly should be reported.

Dates and movements of SHIPS and TROOPS should be reported.
Movements include homecomings, port visits, ground movement from point A to point B.

Dates of someone's boyfriend leaving for bootcamp, graduating, going to school or leaving school are NOT OPSEC. Please do not report these posts.

If you're unsure, feel free to report it. Just please be aware that not every single date posted is a violation of OPSEC. I feel like some people are seeing any date posted and automatically reporting without really thinking about whether that date is actually sensitive information.

I've also received quite a few reports on siggies that are either just barely borderline or not even over the limit. So, again, if you're going to report these, please make sure that the signature is definitely over the limits.

I appreciate everyone working together to help enforce the policies we have set, I just want to make sure that everyone is clear on what the policies are.

I also wanted to say that to the people that have countdown tickers to thiings that are okay (such as their SO coming to visit from afar or coming home from graduation), could you please note that in your countdown? If we, or another member, sees a countdown ticker that says "15 days until I see my SO", we don't know that that isn't a homecoming ticker, so we would play it safe and assume it is and either ask you to remove it or remove it ourselves.

So if you could try to say "15 days until he graduates bootcamp" instead of "15 days until I see him", it would also save us a lot of time and confusion and save people from reporting posts as well.

GREAT point and I forget to mention that but it's so true. Adding in those small things would be a HUGE help to us and would also save your ticker from doing a vanishing act :giggle

Cool. Thanks for reminding us what exactly we should report and what we shouldn't.

And, if I *ever* get to see him anytime soon, I'll be sure to specify that it's not a troop movement, it's a him/me movement. :lol
