I used the Playtex Nursers with the drop-ins, so that was never something that I was worried about. I've heard that study before though!

I've never heard of that study before! Hm. I'd go with platex drop ins myself. Glass bottles must be EXPENSIVE!

I haven't heard of this exact study but I have heard you shouldn't heat anything in plastic containers... like left overs in gladware. It all makes sense though. I always just added warm water that didn't need to be heated.

i used the playtex drop ins with Darian so no hard plastics. There are SOME safe forms of hard plastic out there for bottles. Born free has some glass and some safe hard plastic bottles. Darian had three 4 oz glass bottles that were made by even flo they never broke or even chipped and I had dropped them. They were inexpensive too but hard to find.

you should not use glass bottles for breast milk.

my geography professor was talking about this in class this evening. He used plastic soda bottles and stuff as his example though....I wouldn't doubt the facts....

We used the advent ones...but I never heated them... DD actually seemed to prefer it regular temp...so I guess that wasn't an issue for us? Hope not!

:yes That is what we use for Austin too and it works great because you don't have to worry about cleaning dirty bottles later on. Just throw the bottle away and stick it in the diaper bag go home and clean the nipples it works GREAT for us. So no worry about the plastic issue either.

I would be more worried about the bottles breaking when dropped or thrown. I use the playtex drop ins

I have read several articles regarding the toxins in plastic. Not only baby bottles but all plastic and if it weren't for the dropins I probably would have gone with the least toxic amount or back to glass. However, the way around it is to not heat IN the plastic bottles, or let the formula set in the bottles longer than necessary.

me too, that would annoy me. My kids would hit the bottle and if I didn't have a good grip it would go flying. I loved playtex ( not the drop ins though because you couldn't mix well because if you pushed it up the formula would squeeze out. I preferred the regular liners) disposable liners. Best invention EVER!!! i also never heated up the bottles in the microwave. I just filled a bowl/pan with hot water and left the bottle in there for a few minutes.

I used avents for my son back in 05. I never heated them tho. I always just used lukewarm water. My daughter uses playtex drop ins so no worries there. I have heard of the studies tho

My sister in law is the greenest girl EVER! She breast fed AND used ONLY glass bottles. They are EXTREMELY durable! My children would get a hold of em and fling em around and throw em.... not a single one broke! They are pretty great... I also used drop ins though.
