I'll be flying cross county when my DF returns in a few months the problem is i dont know the area other than what google has to share, we dont have friends or family over there, and i'm new to the whole navy thing and its his first deployment so he's as much in the dark as i am. If anyone is familiar with the area and or what happens when they pull in (where i need to go, etc.) I'd be forever thankful.

norfolk, but we'll be living in va beach. I hear its much nicer and thats what i'm hoping since i'm not there to actually see it. I relying a lot on the internet as far as apartments go

I am in Va and my DH is on the Truman. We have a few of us. As far as a place to stay the Navy Lodge is right next to the base. You want to make those reservations ASAP. See if you can get a date. I know it's so hard to make reservations for when a big battlegroup pulls in. I know down the interstate there are things off of Tidewater Dr. In addition to that you have things more fancy in Norfolk by Waterside. The only other place I can think of are the ones off NorthHampton Blvd. Some of the gals can help you better with that area. I am in Newport News and from Chesapeake.

Can we stay at the Navy Lodge? I have a friend and myself coming and i didnt think I can stay there since DF and I are not married yet

We stayed in VA Beach with another guy...it was in a condo..it was pretty nice! Maybe if you look on roommates.com? That's how DH found our roommate! It was safe...no problems!

Im looking for some where to stay while on vacation when the ship pulls in. I'll be there for 7 days so i truly want it to be as cheap as possible while staying as close to the base as i can. As for when i move, it will be me and my DF and one of his buddies that is on the ship with him.
