i started my job in mid july last year. the first weekend in august is a big summer festival in seattle, called seafair. i didn't know it, but the blue angels always perform there.

so anyways...my co workers say to me, "how do you feel about the blue angels, cuz they'll be practicing outside your window. it's kinda annoying when you're trying to get work done"

my response was "OMG!!!! SERIOUSLY???" & i started spouting all kindsa info. i was glued to my window the day they practiced!

I am so over them :teehee

When we where stationed in El Centro, their "winter home", it was kinda of a pain when they came to town. They would do low fly overs at the crack of dawn and shake the whole house knocking pictures off my walls. Some of them where very cocky too, NOT ALL, but some of them needed their heads deflated.

a couple year's ago i went to the battle creek airshow where the thunderbirds were performing. the friend of the friend who invited me had a plane at the airport, so we watched the show from his hangar, which meant i had the thunderbirds & the lone f-18 that was performing flying directly over my head. that was darn sweet.

the f-18 did the singularity effect directly in front of me. only person closer than me to it was the pilot. also had him right overhead. very awesome experience. my heart was pounding, the air rumbling with the noise...awesome!

see. phallic displays of horse power & thrust do it for me. now if i could convice db i can totally handle drag racing his gt!!!!!

:shock that's no fun.

they have an airshow in my hometown and the blue angels are there fairly often. i've seen them quite a bit. my fondest memory is one time i was crying cause it was so loud, and at the time i was crying, they did the move where they make a heart in the air with the steam or whatever it is :D

i'm going to see them this year too with my dad :D:D

I love the Blue Angels - as well as the Thunderbirds who are from my hometown of Las Vegas, over at Nellis AFB.

As for the noise overhead...that's the sound of freedom! Love it!!

I've been a fan almost my whole life. I grew up seeing them almost every year as part of San Francisco's fleet week. I've seen them at Miramar when we were stationed in San Diego and I've seen them every year we've been here in Virginia Beach. We actually get to see them about 2 days prior to the air show here because our house is in their flight path. They fly so low I can see their heads in the cockpit. :D

Here's some pictures we took from the air show in 2006.

I love air shows and air craft. The Blue Angels fly F-18s though btw. :) The thunderbirds (or as I like to say, the Thunderchickens) fly F-16s. The air show's in Florida don't meet my schedule this Spring. I usually go the Florida air shows... :) I'm so jealous!!!!

My DH will be ground crew for the one this year cuz it was our last duty station before coming here.....My mom and fam are driving from upstate NY to see it (it's a 8 hour drive). Her friend who is dying of cancer is going too if he makes it until then. I wish I could go to that show too (we LOVED Maine), but we can't afford it with the cruise we'll be taking in November.

I used to work right next to Oceana NAS and worked there over the summer during the Air Show this last year. I had a jet (not sure which kind) basically do a u-turn right above my head JUST above the treeline as I was standing outside my building. I couldn't even hear myself think. It was SO FREAKING COOL. I always loved watching the jets fly by, and jet noise doesn't bother me in the least!!
