Because publishers like to give it in the ass to all students, they know we have no choice but to buy the books, so like everything else, the rich get richer the poor get poorer.

Anyway, there are lots of online sites to get really cheap books :), sometimes used sometimes new, and you can always put them back up for sale when you are done with them. My favorite sites are amazon.com, half.com, ecampus.com, directtextbook.com. And you can just google, cheap textbooks and get a ton of other sites to do price comparisons :)

that is the one thing i like about online schools. your textbooks and shipping are included in your tuition.

Not that i'm trying top brag, b/c i am really not, but i work at the bookstore where i go to school and get 20% off all my text books. Even then its still really expensive.(I'd help ya'll out and order ya'lls books for you so you could use my discount, but theres jsut to many of us and i think my boss may start to wonder.)

Mine does also!! Thankfully! I am definitely planning on putting these books up on half.com though and trying to get some money back from them.

Yea, it sucks...and selling them back just makes you want to pull your hair out because you rarely get back half of what you paid for them. I didn't keep any of my core class books, but I have kept most of my education books because I know I will need them.

I hate that books cost so much, and you can't even claim the ones that you buy from the bookstore on your taxes. Yeah, I found out the hard way. I usually buy mine online also.
I'm just upset because I have already taken Anatomy with lab and PJC would not accept it, so I had to go and buy a book and lab book. Luckly Dh has a friend that just took the class so he is letting me borrow it otherwise for used books I would have spent right at 300.00 on just that class.
My three year old Statistics book I have to get is 96.00,
luckly I can use the same Chem book that I had last semester since the material comes from that.
Sorry for my rambling!

I just got my books today (ONE freakin day before the class starts and I ordered them OVER a month ago!) and found out that since they didn't have the used books for Algebra or Psychology, they sent me new ones and juct charged the credit card on file for new instead of used. Not that I would have said no because obviously I need them, but damn. Over $220 for TWO books :tears :tears Hopefully my pell grant will go through soon and help with some of it. :mad

Adams first online college made us buy his books but then he just switched and everything is included and I like that no more worring about getting his books if we don't have the extra $$
