USNIwife 02-21-2008, 02:05 PM Individual Augmentee referred to as "IA" Gotta love military acronyms. Navgirl 02-27-2008, 05:54 AM I know it can be voluntary or you can be put on it if you are shore duty. My dh's name came up on the IA list to go but he had already put in orders for Korea when he found out so that overode that for now. My husband's currently the IA liason for his command (shore duty) and he's constantly stressing about having enough primaries and alternates to fill the quota he's given. It's been discussed that IAs will be required in the future.. and will be billeted, so those looking for orders can be issued IA orders. NikkiD 02-27-2008, 01:13 PM DH just got his IA orders. Yeah, my husband was telling me the same thing and he said be prepared that he may go after our tour in Korea is over. That will be in Feb 2010. It just surprised me when he told me about the IA list because he was shore duty and technically not attached to the command he was at, he was sort of a floater. Hard to explain that situation. Anyway since he was "available" his name came up but by that time we already got these orders to Korea and USFK wasn't going to let him go without a fight because this billet had been open for 4 months! They needed someone ASAP and no one wanted Korea. That surprises me because this is awsome duty for us because DH is home everyday... kind of annoying sometimes, LOL, because I am used to him being gone every couple weeks for a det here and there and duty days but it's great for the boys. lacy+chk 02-27-2008, 11:53 PM :hystericlaugh i'm sitting here thinking, why doesn't she know what Iowa is!!!!???? :roflmao |
