Just curious when your SO actually got their orders for R n R? Was it just days before they left or weeks?

my db says about a month before he will have a strong idea, of course nothing is set stone though.

Mine started to hear dates getting flown around about 5 weeks before hand and then got the real dates about a month before. Nothing was for sure for sure until his but was on that plane.

SO what they call you from the plane and say "yep I got on"??? Like you don't know a day or two ahead that they have a flight scheduled?? So you might not know until hrs before they get home?

Thats stressful if you dont know until they get on the plane like even a day before so u know u can make work arrangements etc....ahh good luck on waiting on those orders

YOu're the best hun...thansk for the PM! So, sounds like there is still hope he'll get home ontime. Guess he's heard a lot of "don't worries" but he doesn't trust em....go figure its the Army. I'll just keep my fingers crossed its something he'll be really disappointed to miss so I hope he gets home when he wants to

my db told me that they will give himm a couple weeks, and that I should be ready to come pick him up at the airport...I will never know an exact day until like the day before

My DH was supposed to come home for R&R in January but since they are getting to come home sooner they cancelled all leaves starting in January...but from what I have heard from other wives was that they really weren't sure of dates till a couple of days before they got home.

DB knew his date about 3 or 4 weeks ahead. He got stuck waiting around at least 3 or 4 days at the larger FOB he was flown into. I was worried he wouldn't make it home in time for thanksgiving, BUT once they finally got him out of there he was literally home in less than 2 days! ....I didn't hear from him when he actually left Iraq because he got flown out so fast, but the next time I heard from him he was calling from the U.S....it was the most amazing call, just to hear his voice and know he was so much closer:D

So yeah, once it happens, they get them out fast even if there's a lot of waiting around beforehand.

My DH's company all picked there dates shortly after they got to their base all though the dates arent set the month pretty much was but it always can change.

DB chose his R&R about a week after getting to Iraq. Which was just after the first of January. He just now got his confirmed orders!!! Yay! So it's only been 2 months!
