I was just thinking about when my DH left. He started to pull away on that bus and he pulled the window open. He blew me a kiss...I blew him one back... he put it in his pocket. Gave me a huge smile...mouthed "I Love You" and then he was gone. I know to some that may sound sad...but it was wonderful. A memory that I hold so dear and sits with me all the time. Something I will never forget :lovesign
Sorry you are having a hard time :hugehug

i don't think i've ever shared this...

we met at a bar in ocean city md 5 years ago...when he walked in, I SWEAR he was the only person i saw...everything stopped...and i saw him, all 6'6 of him, tan, and white blond long hair and very blue eyes...I couldn't breathe!!! If i could describe my perfect guy it would be him...we spend 2 days together, since i was on vaca...we was a lifeguard we walked on the beach drunk and making out...

we got back in touch last january, he found me and told me that he always thought about me, and needed to get in touch with me...since then we've managed to make it work...him being in CA me being in PA, we've gotten together i think 6 times, and i just really love him...i miss him so much

Awwwwwww!!!! That's so sweet! I looove when the last goodbye goes that way, because it gives you something completely wonderful to hang on to until they come home. Amazing how we remember every detail of the day they left, but can't remember what we had for breakfast yesterday. Hehe.

Aww thanks for the hug! I usually do pretty well, just having one of those days! Hehe.

DB has been my crush since middle school..We were always friends and he used to be a little heartbreaker dating all my friends but me!. After high school we didnt talk to much except for the occasional run in. This past summer we met up at my elementary schools beer tent (haha) Honestly, we locked eyes in a tent of a thousand people & honestly it was like love at first sight we have been inseparable.

He wrote me a letter a few weeks ago talking about his plans for our future. That letter means so much to me I read it everyday.

now i'm sad :( haha

HAHAHAHAHA. That sounds like something my hubby would do. lol Actually, funny story...

Last Valentine's Day (2007 of course), he was in the field so obviously he couldn't be there to give me whatever he had gotten me.. He actually sent one of his soldiers back with the people coming back to post for something.. I can't remember what.. So his soldier went to our house and set up all of the things DH had gotten me. There were fake rose petals everywhere when I got home.. and I huge teddy bear.. and chocolates and all kinds of things! He even got me some gift certificates to my favorite stores to go and get some new clothes.. And a BEAUTIFUL card.. It was just.. WOW. He couldn't be there physically, but to me.. it was just like spending that day with him.

My DB used to do sweet things for me all time. Like one day i was super sick at home, and he came over and hung out with me and i was like "why would you want to hang out with sick little me" "I don't mind."
then he surprised me with flowers once when i was leaving for europe...
and then we used to go get hot chocolate and drive to the beach and walk on the pier...
one day i was super hungry and he used to work at this steakhouse not terribely far from his house...
welll he walked all the way from there on his break and brought me a steak dinner, and then rushed back to work.

I met DF through my best friend, she swears he & I knew each other in high school but niether of us remember that. :dunno

When we were introduced I immediatley noticed his arms, ( I love a man with strong forearms :drool) Then I noticed how easily he could talk to people and his smile was infectious, you couldn't help but feel comfortable around him.

Nothing happened that night, but we ended up running into each other that friday night. He invited me to a party that he and his roomy were having the next night.

When I got there he wasn't home yet from work, so I hung out with his friends (wierd, but got through it) When he finally got home, the first thing he did was walk straight to me and kissed me like I had never been kissed before. I swear i went completly weak. :swoon

When he pulled away, he whispered in my ear, "I have been wanting to do that since the first time I saw you" kissed me on the forehead and told me he would be right back he was going to take a shower.

It took all i had not to follow him there. :teehee

From that night on, we have been a couple.

Well db is in San Diego and I live in Cinti, OH. I went to SD for a work meeting. Some co-workers and I went out to 2 bars Friday night and then back to one of the same bars Saturday night. I happened to stop and talk to someone because I over heard them say "Cincinnati", this guy was one if Phil's friends. So as the night went on Phil and I sat at the bar and talked. Come to find out he is from Lexington, KY about 90 miles from me. My co-workers and I left the bar and he came back to the hotel with us. We stayed up all night until I had to catch my shuttle to the airport at 5:30 am. We sat up and just talked all night, we felt so comfortable. I just knew there was something about him. I felt like I had known him forever. He called me the next day and we continued to talk everyday for hours at a time...

Fast forward to 3 weeks after we met... he was granted leave and the cheapest flight was into Indy. So I went there to pick him up and drive him back to Cincy so his brother could meet me there and take him to Lexington. He stayed at his family's house for 5 days and then came to mine for 3. As he was downloading pics on to my computer from his camera I am looking at one of his friends at a bar in SD. As I am looking I notice something... it's ME in the background!! The night before we met we had both been at the same bars at the same time and never met. We think it was fate!! I just love him to death and I can't wait to be his wife some day.

Ok... wow... that was a lot! lol :)

So my man ALWAYS does really great things for me. I'd get surprise bouquets with chocolate like every other month when he was on deployment with beautiful messages. Well this last Valentine's Day, I woke up upset because he had all ready left for work and I had to leave for class like as soon as he came home. So I was a little upset when he came in from work with a bag of my favorite chocolates... no card, nothing said... felt kinda sad. So I say good bye and walk out to my car, and on the seat is a starbucks coffe gift set (YUM!) and then I see a card on the steering wheel that says, "Just for you!" (he loves coffee too), and then above the card on the dash was a box with a beautiful gold bracelet inside! I had to go back inside and give him a kiss... When I went back to my car, I thought it was safe to say that he didn't see the tears in my eyes until I looked in the rear view mirror and saw my mascara everywhere! =) Love my man. We had been going through a rough spot at Valentine's Day which made it the sweeter!

The first night I hung out with dh I got super drunk. When we left the bar at closing, I wasn't walking too straight, so he held my hand to guide me. When we got to the parking lot, he offerred me a ride, and told his friend to get out of the front seat. I know it's silly, but in my drunken state, I thought that was the sweetest thing. He took me to Anna Millers and bought me pie and coffee, and we stayed up all night. It was so much fun.

Our first Christmas dating, he built me a coffee table big enough to play beer pong on. :lmao I knew that was true love. :rofl He also bought me towels... which everyone gave him shit for, but he had been paying attention when I mentioned that I wanted a set of matching towels that were actually nice. I thought it was so sweet.

Ok, last one, when we moved to GA, I was homesick for Christmas, and lamenting that we didn't have any traditions, and we were too far for family traditions. So he bought me a nativity set I liked, and made me a stocking, and made a big deal about starting traditions that would last a lifetime with those two things. :wub

Oh wait, one more.

At my last job, I didn't get along with another woman at the office. She hated me, and made it obvious. Our birthdays were two days apart, and she even made a big deal about how she shouldn't have to share the week of her birthday with me. She always bragged about how her husband always sent her flowers on her birthday, and rubbed it in my face that I didn't get any my first year working there. So the next year, dh got out of work just so he could surprise me at the company lunch for both our birthdays, carrying the biggest vase of tulips (her favorite flower) that I have ever seen. He walked in to the the crowded restaurant with the tulips in front of him, and she started flipping out about how lovely her flowers were... then he moved the vase and you could see his face and she turned bright red and stomped to the rest room. I know it's catty, but I love love love that he went out of his way to make her see that she wasn't the only one who was well loved on their birthday! (The whole office got a kick out of it too!)

When hubby and I were on R & R we were together 24-7. I remember one day he was playing WOW and I wanted to go to the pharmacy and get something for us to eat. He was going to stop playing and come with me but I told him not to stop because I'd just be out for a little bit. Well I left and went to the pharmacy, got some food and stopped at the post office to pick up some boxes. I was gone for all of 35 minutes. When I got back to the hotel and walked through the door he was standing there and grabbed me and hugged me like he was seeing me for the first time in years and said "you're not going out without me again...I miss you too much when you're gone"

DH and i met back in O4..i had just gotten off work on the base and was leaving with a friend of mine..well that day i quit my job...and not even like 2 minutes after being in the car i had to pee super bad and of course didn't want to go back..so she told me that she knew this guy in the barracks and i could just go to the bathroom there..so we stopped there and met this guy..we'll call him landon...well while she was talking to him i went into the bathroom...long behold there's no toliet paper...so i told him and he said well my BF just got home from det (like no even 20 min before i got there) and he was like let me call down to him and have him bring you up some...by this point i was getting super frusterated and was like fine whatever..

4 minurtes later (yes i counted) this gorgeous guy walked throught the door (holding NO toliet paper i might add) and all i could do was smile at him...we intorduced ourselves and he said sorry i forgot your toliet paper why don't we go find you some..so after much back and forth with myself ( i really didn't feel comforatble going with him alone) but i didn't really care at the time..well by the time we got to his room i had already totally forgot i had to pee till he reminded me..so i went..and ended up staying there for like 3 hours just talking..well time came to go and he ended comeing back to the apartment and hanging out with us all night..lets just say after that night i knew he was the one for me (L)

My DB, for our one year. Had me sit down and read his card outl loud. As i read it he had a present for each line I was reading. The following are the lines.

For the 12 months we have been together (layed a dozen roses on my lap)
For the one word you said( our song is you had me at "Hello", he put one white rose in lap).
For your smile that shines like diamonds: (gave me diamond earings).
For when i am away me heart will always be next to yours( I looked up and he kissed a heart shaped necklace and put it on me.)

I was in tears by the time this was done i almost couldn't finish reading it.

I have never taken that necklace off. When i feel low i kiss it like he did.

Recently, all I can think about is what he has written since he's been deployed. He wrote me an "essay" on Tuesday. They are in port and will be in training for 2 weeks and won't be able to talk, so he left me with this:

"I met an amazing girl one night in a small bar in Redlands, CA. From the minute I met her I knew there was something special between us. She is unbelievably sweet and the most beautiful girl I have ever laid eyes on. She also gives me the greatest feeling I have ever had.

When I say she is sweet it is a complete understatement. She has the ability to immediately be loved. My family fell in love with her after knowing her only hours. She always considers my feelings before doing anything and would never do anything to hurt them on purpose.

To say she is beautiful, does not even begin to describe her. When she walks into the room, no matter how many times I have looked at her that day, I still do a double take. She has a smile so wonderful you can see it in her eyes. The most beautiful thing about her is that she does not know how beautiful she really is.

The feeling inside that I get from her is the most special thing about Alicia. I feel like a new person because of the happiness that I now have that was never there before. Its as if I was a puzzle missing one piece and finally being finished.

For me to have somebody as sweet and as beautiful as Alicia is a dream come true. The fact that she makes me happier than I ever have been in my entire life is why I love her more than anything in the world. Most people find somebody and settle even though it is not the one person that is meant for them. I get to settle with perfection."

This makes me smile everytime I read it. He is the sweetest guy I have ever met. :wub

This past Valentines day, I had to work, as did my DB, so we didn't plan on seeing each other or doing anything. Later that day, it started raining and I had to stand outside in the rain after work for 30 minutes to wait for the freakin' bus! Incidently, I take 2 buses to get home. The next wait wasn't too long, but it was cold! I texted my DB while I was waiting like I usually do to pass the time. Needless to say, by the time I got home, I was really cold, wet, and cranky. I walk up to my driveway, and he's standing there waiting for me with flowers. I was so shocked and happy to see him, I just fell into his arms and got all teary eyed.:smitten

Me and DH were watching a documentary about stars (as in like stars in the sky...we're nerds..haha) Anyway, some guy was talking about how when a star explodes, the gases and pieces can come to earth and people absorb them (something like that, i wasn't paying to much attention...) anyway, later on that night... DH was like "Your like my star, baby!! I've got all your pieces in me!!!" It was soooo corny in such a sweet way!!!

Awwww, that made me tear up a little bit! That is soooo sweet!

:wub

That's an incredible one too! :sweetheart

DH won me back after our divorce. OF course we both had a lot of issues to work through, but he won me over.

DH and I had our two year anniversary last September, at this point, we weren't engaged or anything. We were getting ready to head out to dinner because we've made it a point to try a different restaurant every year. For those of you in the NH area, there is a fantastic Italian restaurant up in Portsmouth. He was rushing me... so I was putting on my dress, makeup and putting up my hair really quickly. I had already given him his gift, which was an HD-DVD player and a bunch of movies. So I grabbed my purse and put on a coat and declared, "I'm ready."

He went into the spare bedroom, took out some roses and gave me a piece of paper. It said,
*It all started with a message titled ::waves hello::
A kiss in the car when we heard the music ask,
"Why does tonight have to end?
Why don't we hit restart, and pause it at our favorite parts?"
I'm thankful. I do not need a pause button.
You are my favorite part. You are my heart.
My beautiful, amazing, shining heart.
You are everything that is good in me.
I am in love with you more than words could ever say.
The past two years have been amazing,
and I look forward to many more years to come. I love you.*

Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I didn't see it coming and I was so shocked that I took a moment to take it all in and make sure I didn't cry because we didn't have time for me to redo my makeup. DH and I married two months later in a small ceremony because we knew he'd be deployed. We're having our big ceremony when he comes back, which he's taken so much time to help plan. I keep what he wrote in my wallet and read it every time I get upset.

To explain what he wrote-- we met on myspace and kissed in his car listening to a song called Tiger Lily by Matchbook Romance. The song is really cute.

Hope this wasn't too long!

[COLOR="Blue"]This thread has given me such a lift tonight! I loved reading everyone's story. What incredible guys we have! In my fantasy world, they are all sitting around tonight talking about how much we rock, too. Hey! I said fantasy!
So here is my contribution: My DB has done so many sweet and thoughtful things for me but the one that comes to mind tonight is the time I helped a girlfriend by watching her children until 2 a.m. while she and her husband attended a wedding. DB knew I would be driving 45 min. back to my house and was worried about my safety. He set his alarm and got up in the middle of the night to call my cell phone at 2:05 and talk with me until I was home, changed clothes and got into bed...all so he could said, "Sweet dreams, baby. I love you!" He was in another state, a thousand miles away, but wanted to take care of me. These are the kind of things that are truly romantic in my mind. I love flowers and nice dinners, etc., but in the end the things like "talking me home" are what leaves a lasting impression on my heart. I love that man! :smitten

Hmmm, well, we have a long distance relationship...both of our families are in VA but I'm in NC for school and he's been stationed in FL so when i'm in school and he's on base we're about 8 hours apart. He was deployed November 5th which was a Monday. All of the week before that whenever we talked on the phone he kept telling me that I better not make any big plans for the weekend so I could spend all my time talking to him before he left. And I was like well, yeah, of course. And then he told me he was having something delivered to my dorm and it should get there Friday. So anyway I kept talking to him throughout the day on Friday and he told me a couple times that the deilvery would be late cause the people had car trouble or something. So I was like ok whatever. And then finally at like 11 o'clock he told me to go outside (I pretty much knew by this point, because i mean, who delivers packages at 11pm? haha) andd yeah he was standing out there. :) He managed to get leave for the weekend so he worked all day and then drove up here but ended up getting in a small accident and having all this trouble. I was just so excited to get to see him before he left though. He didn't leave til around 11 on Sunday night, so he drove through the night and then deployed the next morning. I love him. :wub
