I just finished reading Saddam's Secrets, by Georges Sada. He was an Iraqi Air Force General and had to work up close with Saddam, and actually escaped beheading and all that. He talks about all hi experiences with Saddam, how much change the country is going through and how he's happy USA came over to help, and the biggie - he says they did have WMD and Saddam had them hidden out of the country right before we invaded. VERY good read, nice to read an Iraqi's account of all the good being done there.

The only thing I'm reading right now is "National Geographic's Traveler Egypt." So far it's really good. I've been looking for a good book to read, though. Da Vinci Code was Really Good!!

I haven't read the DaVinci code yet, so you're NOT the last one :rofl

I just read "The Bean Trees" by Barbara Kingsolver, and then the follow up book "Pigs in Heaven" is what I'm almost done with now. The story is a wonderful story about a girl from the midwest and basically her story when she leaves home to head out and make her life. She's going through an indian reservation when suddenly an indian woman gives her a wonderful gift...

I don't want to spoil anything - but they're both great books, Kingsolver's writing style is one that I really enjoy in these two books! I'd recommend them!

I'm really into Janet Evanovich books right now. All of them are great, but Full Scoop and Full Blast were excellent! I also devoured a few Nicholas Sparks books before I left for Hawaii. I have yet to read The Davinci Code, but DH has it to read on deployment so we'll see. I might have to read it once he's done reading it.

Hmmm...in the last couple of months I read "The Kite Runner" which was wonderful. Getting ready to start "Eat, Pray, Love" which is supposed to be really good. I want to read the book version of "Atonement" as well. I have read some other things in there as well, several Clive Cussler books and several James Patterson books. Since I don't start my job until after the new year, I have been reading about 3 books a week until then. After I start work I will usually read 1 book a week on top of my Bible reading.

Lol, I've never read the Da Vinci Code either!

I dont like Science Fiction, but I liked these:
We by Yevgeny Zamyatin
Heart of a Dog by Mikhail Bulgakov
and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books by Douglas Adams are funny, kinda like a parody on Science fiction. I would recommend the first 3 books, but not the last two. Although, many other would recommend all five!

I love Russian writers, so read Anna Karenina by Tolstoy, and I've begun Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky and I love it! but almost everything by them is good.

Newer Books I like:
The Nanny Diaries by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus (mostly cos I used to be a nanny!)
Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser
and this may sound dorky, but I love this children's series called the Sisters Grimm. by Michael Buckley I found it when I had my Post Harry Depression, it's not as deep and involved as Harry Potter, it's definitely for kids, but it is satisfying.
And typically, anything by Amy Tan is good.

I discovered Maeve Binchy. I would read any of her books, but they all have the same themes (friendships between women being the driving motif), so I would suggest only reading one. I read Tara Road. The title caught my attention cos I LOVE Gone With the Wind, but all her stuff is good.

Sorry, ex English major here, I read too much!!

I just finished The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. It was by far one of the fastest moving, and most interesting books I have read in a long time. I am going to start World Without End, the sequel, soon too.
