Is it okay to get your nails done while being pregnant?? DH and I are going to his military ball tomorrow and I miss getting my nails done all the time..I stopped when i got pregnant...because I wasn't sure if it was okay to have them...so I will ask you lovely ladies!!! Is it okay or not?

i am not sure. it really depends on who you ask. i know that they chemicals they use are not the greatest for you, especially early on. i would just ask your doc to be safe

You "should" wear a mask if you do! Otherwise, you "should" go to a salon that's well ventilated...

It is safe, but personally I would do my nails myself rather than getting them done at a salon... the concern about getting your nails done is the fumes from the nailpolishes and it'll be very strong in the salon... whereas if you do your nails yourself, you can stay in a well ventilated room.

I believe it is fine as long as you're not breathing it all in for a lengthy period of time. I also would tend to think that doing it once isn't going to hurt the baby, but I wouldn't make it a weekly event or anything.

It's fine. Just don't breathe in the dust.

I went with a pregnant friend when she got hers done, they just made her wear a mask like they do.

My doc said it was fine when I was preggers with Cam. The salon I always go to back home is well ventilated so the smell is minimal and I was careful to keep away from breathing the dust.

just take a mask with you I got mine done a few times, usually its more like if you can stomach the smell.

me personally I would not. But I am such a health nut who runs out of the room if someone uses the microwave. I really believe though that if you are atleast into the 2nd trimester then you should be ok if the place is well ventelated. I won't even get my hair colored because of the ammonia!! Congrats on the ball! I hope you have fun regardless of what your nails look like!!

lol dh makes fun of me cuz i turn on the microwave, and then run away... and i wont stand in front of it i stand off to the side....

When I was pregant with my daughter I had a mani pedi twice a month. It really helped me feel so much more beautiful when I was feeling bad. The only reason I have not really done that with this pregancy is where I lived before was within walking distance of a salon. And Im sure my Dr noticed and they never said anything about it.
