He's leaving on March 10th. He's getting his pay autodeposited into our Local Credit Union Bank. When should he receive his first pay?

How nice have creditors been when you couldn't pay them right away because of his pay not being on time?

I'm taking advantage of the Soilders Credit Relief act by reducing debt interest to 6%. WOO HOO.

How long did it take for that to show up in your statements/payments to creditors?

as far as the pay ... it will probably show up at the end of March.

it really depends on the creditor- some give you 3 days to make a payment, some give you 30. I think in order to start proceedings for repossession or putting a mark on your credit, they have to properly notify you- some take from 10-30 days. It really depends on the creditor. I would call them. If you have to be late on your payment, make sure you don't MISS a payment (even if it's a little late) Missing a payment can really screw with your credit.
not sure about the soldiers & sailors relief act.
HTH!

as for the pay- 4-8 weeks for the pay to kick in.

as for the reduced % rate- that will be up to each individual creditor,, make sure you understand that you will need a copy of his orders and possibly a POA to get them lowered.
but most importantly they do not have to honor it.
if you have been late, over the limit ect most banks and financials will not lower the interest rates.
it is a great program just not 100% guarenteed.

The first check will also be much less then you think it will be. They do take out for Clothing so sometimes it's not the full pay. On average it takes about 6 weeks give or take depending on when they process him in and on what next payday his check will fall on.

I read somewhere that they get a uniform allowance. Wouldn't that cover that expense?

yes, but at the same time if he did get paid lets say EOM (end of month) then he would only be paid for a few days again depending when he started processing. The first week they are there they don't get paid for.

Sh*T. That's not good. So I guess he really isn't getting paid end of March. He went in on March 10th. So when do you think I should see something?

my guess would be the 15th of April, you might get lucky and get something on the 1st, but don't count on it.

crappity. Well, I guess it won't make a difference that he wrote in his letter that they told them they'd get paid in 3 weeks??

He may have a uniform allowance in there- DO NOT use that money- he'll need that to pay for the uniforms he gets there.

Well, I called my mortgage company and told them I won't be making my payment right now because he hasn't gotten paid. They said that's fine, just make it when you can. We are protected from it being reported because of the soilders and sailors act. YAY!
