View Full Version : How do you lay...
wife-n-mommy 02-23-2008, 06:54 PM How do you or did you lay to sleep while you were pregnant? When I was pregnant the first time I was told it was bad to lay on your back or left side, so I always layed on my right side or slept sitting up. This time I;m trying to lay on only my right side. Just wanted to see what everyone else does.
Poll coming...
*~*Cori*~* 02-23-2008, 06:57 PM Right now its a combonation of on my back and my left side but mostly I'm tossing and turning. I can't sleep worth a toot these days.
Cangel14 02-23-2008, 07:01 PM You're actually supposed to lay on your left side - from what I've read and been told. By laying on your left side, it's supposed to be the best position for blood flow to the baby. You're not supposed to lay on your back (for long periods of time) b/c it can cut off circulation to the baby. So, I usually lay on my left side, or my right side... sometimes I'll try sorta laying on my body pillow to take some pressure off my hips.
Philsgurl 02-23-2008, 07:03 PM LOL sorry I didnt notice the board it was posted in! Ignore me.
inmansgirl06 02-23-2008, 07:30 PM i TRY really hard to only sleep on my left side, but sometimes I get so uncomfortable that i have to turn on my right side....no my belly sleep for me, and if i even lay on my back both legs go tingly....so yeah im a side sleeper now
wife-n-mommy 02-23-2008, 07:34 PM so strange... I was always told TO sleep on my right side, not my left... I even pulled out my old medical file from when I was preggo with Kylee to be certain... and it says right side. Maybe because my uterus is tilted to the left? :dunno
FTCWifey 02-23-2008, 07:45 PM I lay any way I want because honestly I don't stay comfortable long enough for it to do any damage :lol
MomWifeMe 02-23-2008, 07:58 PM When I was pregnant with the twins I couldnt lay down at all. I sat up.
aingealbaby20 02-23-2008, 08:00 PM I could only lay on my left side when I was pregnant and other way and it made me sick.
kshep 02-23-2008, 08:35 PM Left side with a pillow between my legs
airmanssweetie 02-23-2008, 08:42 PM It was a combination for me.. up until the last few months i could still sleep on my belly and back & sides comfortably. The last few mons i slept an equal amount on the left and right side!
letgo0527 02-23-2008, 10:58 PM I toss and turn....I can NOT get comfortable....
Tossing and turning all night long...it takes me forever to get comfortable and once I fall asleep, I have to get up and pee....again! I can't wait until I'm able to sleep like a "normal" person again. But I guess it won't be much sleep with a newborn anyways.;)
Mosley04 02-24-2008, 12:37 AM I had to lay on my right side with a pilloe tucked in between my legs and under my tummy. What is weird is that I still do it, even though I havent been preggo in almost 8 months.
Caimbrie 02-24-2008, 12:42 AM I lay on either side... or on my back still since I'm not far along. Whne I get big I usually try to stay on the left side (whoever told you your right side was mistaken)
cceribit 02-24-2008, 12:51 AM I layed however the hell my legs didn't fall asleep on me first. I had to have a pillow in between my legs (and still sleep like that even though I haven't been pregnant in 8 mths) and one under my head. My daughter was laying on the posterior vena cava and the main artery going into your leg, so there was no defined position, just however I could lay and still be able to feel my legs to get up and pee a thousand times.
mackenziesmommy 02-24-2008, 12:59 AM I slept on my tummy through both pregnancies...the bigger i got the more it was to a side, but mostly on my tummy...sleeping on your back or either side won't do anything...as my ob's said with both pregnancies (different with each) your legs will fall asleep or you'll get really uncomfortable before something happens to the babyl
Rileysmom 02-24-2008, 01:03 AM While preggo and since being preggo;
a) Have not and can not lay on my stomach at all... (sleep on my side though, not my back)
b) HAVE to sleep with a pillow between my legs, or else my hips HURT like hell the next day..
Dragonfly76 02-25-2008, 02:54 AM When I was pregnant I layed on my side, first my left then switch to my right. I still sleep like that today and my youngest is 6.
Before the kiddos I always slept on my stomach, now it's just too uncomfortable to sleep like that.
Victoria 02-25-2008, 12:10 PM I laid on my stomach/side with one leg hiked up. :D
*Samantha* 02-25-2008, 12:45 PM I lay on both my left and right side...I switch through out the night cause it gets to uncomfortable if i stay on one side for tooo long
Ashnbri 02-25-2008, 12:45 PM I did combo...although towards the end of the 2nd tri I couldn't lay on my stomach for too long because it was hard to breath :lol.
