DH emailed me the POA he got for me while he was in Iraq. Do you think I'll have any problems using it since i will have to print it out and its not an "original"?

you shouldn't. Most places only ask for a copy. I'm DH's POA while he's away and I've only ever needed copies. Do you have a military ID too?

I haven't been to get my military ID yet, but hopefully i'll get it in the next week or two. I'm bad about procrastinating :) Will that make it easier to use?

It all depends. Some places really like the original and some places even ask for 2 (a basic and an itamized one) you will just have to ask who ever you are asking what one they need

:agree It depends on what you are using it for.

I find it easier having a military ID, but as long as you have a copy of the POA you shouldn't have any issues with anything.

I was told by legal when we were getting ours done before DH left to NEVER EVER EVER give them the original, and to only ever hand them a copy of the POA. So no, you should not have a problem with a copy.

some places like to actually see the original and copy it themselves though so they know its an original (it has the seal on it) and isnt just made by someone at home

she beat me to the punch but yup. At the bank they check to make sure it's original, if not they won't accept it.
I have never had anyone take my POA other then to make a copy of it

Here at Fort Lewis you HAVE to have the orginal copy! And if they want a copy of it then they will make a copy of it, but I've been told and i've had to have the orginal or I couldn't do anything, because of the seal that is on it to make sure it's legit.

Also to get your ID card you will need the POA. I don't know, maybe that's just another only at Fort. Lewis type of deal, but to get my new ID card, switched from Reserves to Active Duty, I had to have a POA to change it!

you might because there should be a notarized seal on it. Some places will only ask for a copy, but want to see the original. Just use that one in the meantime and have him mail you the original.

does it have a spot on the last page under the signature that says "NO SEAL REQUIRED"? some places will not accept a POA without the notary seal unless it says this (i freaked when i went to get our taxes done the other day because there was no seal on it, then i saw that part).
