Ok... so when I was pregnant with Kylee I was 92lbs at my first appointment (7 weeks) and I was 96lbs at my 15 weeks appointment. I'm a goof... I save all my medical files and am comparing. This time I am about 5 weeks (have yet to see an OB due to Tricare). I weighed myself last Saturday after I got a positive pregnancy test so I could start keeping track of my weight. I was 86lbs. On Tuesday at my appointment where I had my blood test done, I was 87lbs. Today I weighed myself and I am 92.5lbs. So, basically I have gained 6.5lbs in about a week. Is that normal? With Kylee I really didn't gain much of anything until after 15 weeks, and I only gained about 35lbs all together. I don't know. what do you all think?

the clinic that i'm at right now says that it doesn't really matter WHEN you gain the weight as long as you DO gain the weight. The normal weight gain in pregnancy is 25lbs-35lbs. Every woman is different in pregnancy. Some gain all of the weigh and first and then plateau off at the end. Some women dont gain any weight until the third trimester (that would be ME!). So as long as you gain between 25 and 35 pounds by the end of your pregnancy, it should be ok!

My mom also said that it could depend on the number pregnancy it is. Since it's your second your body is already gone through all of this and it knows what to do so it's started gaining the weight right away! Instead of when you first got pregnant your body didn't know what to do at first so it didn't save those calories. That's also why in second pregnancies, women tend to start showing much sooner because their uterus muscles are used to it and the belly muscles are lax. But I wouldn't worry about it :hugs You're doing just fine :)

It depends and every pregnancy is different. SOmetimes if you are underweight you will gain faster as well. I gained 60lbs with my first and 30lbs with my second. Big difference there. As long as you are eating healthy then no worries

this is my first pregnancy, but i started at 98 and then went through a lot of morning sickness and now at 23 weeks i am at 94...but my Dr. said its perfectly fine since both the baby and i are healthy. i think your weight gain sounds ok though. maybe this time your body needs to start out gaining more weight and youll taper off at the end...

You're probably gaining weight faster, because your body needs the fat...

Same goes for why some overweight women only gain like 8 lbs during pregnancy. :)

i just read in my fitpregnancy mag that if you become heavier in the start of your second pregnancy than in your first, the chances that you have concieved a boy are slightly higher... thought you might find that interesting...

I'm not sure. I lost a bunch at first when I was sick and still haven't gained anything back. I think maybe because it is your 2nd it happens faster...

i would think it is normal. Every pregnancy is different. Have you started in with morning sickness yet? I wouldnt worry too much. I am sure that your body is just handling the pregnancy different this time around.
