I'm pretty sure they're able to get stuff and bring it with to a school. I know they're allowed to have cell phones! and they'll have their own rooms then

I am not too sure about the navy. I was thinking about getting dh a gift basket full of food. He may not being able to have them but I willhold on to it while he moves to the next stage but I know he will enjoy while he can.

Ohhhh I love the stuffed friends. That is soooo cute. My Dh would die if I presented him something like that in front of others.

if i get enough money, i'm getting him a promise ring that looks like a wedding band so he can wear it all the time, its going to have something engraved on the inside, but i'm not sure what yet... if you have any suggestions feel free, i love getting ideas and mixing them with my own.

I got dh his new wedding ring :) I don't know, I may bring him something else too, not sure. But I'm sending him all kinds of junk food. They're having some sort of "away day" on 3/17 where they can have the food their family sends them. Soo at his request..chico sticks..oreos...peanut butter m&ms....chex mix...and kit kats...ha.

Heads up for the army girls:

they will not allowed to be able to take food with them to the barracks the night before they ship and will not be allowed to have food in their barracks when they first get to AIT. So edibles are probably not the best option. I know df was forced to throw away all of his food.

I got him a photo frame from things remembered with the date of graduation and such and took a photo of all of us who went and then sent him the photo to put in it after i got it printed.

I got DH an electric razor for christmas (which was right after he graduated from BCT) and he loved it! He hates shaving and this made his morning go like 10 times faster, he even told me that a lot of guys bought one two after they saw it. I wanted to get him soemthing he could use while he was gone at AIT, so that's what I came up with. :)

Hmmm...this may be a good idea for my DH for his AIT graduation.....

For his BCT graduation, it coincided with his birthday, so he got:
a portable dvd player and a couple of dvd's
and because he became Mr. Christian while there, a beautiful Bible (I'm afraid it's become a drink coaster or something though while at AIT).

I went to Target and got not the cheapest and not the most expensive, I bought the one in the middle and it works well for him. I worried about getting him anything too electronic like a gaming system or something, cause most of his friends ended up getting a lot stolen, so the razor worked great!

I'm with you on food. I'm only about 5 hours away from my DB <3 I'm thinking of making sort of like a basket, actually.. would clothes be a good idea at all? I guess they're going to be in uniform mostly, though... I think I might start looking for a pocket picture frame (do those exist? :thinking) that I can get engraved. Because I don't think they'll have any use for keys anytime soon, will they? If that's the case, I would buy db a keychain picture frame. Dunno. :dunno

I know he can't take it with him to AIT but he's been wanting this for a while so I got all of it for his grad present. I have already told him. But he did also request that I buy a gun for him from one of his buddies, so I told him we really didn't have the money and I'm getting it for him for his "Surprise" graduation gift.
