I went to my appointment today and asked my midwife about Tricare only covering one ultrasound. She did say that yes that was indeed how it worked. But she did tell me that my first ultrasound didn't count, because I had complained of pain and that was when they found the cyst! So she said I will still get my 'anatomy' ultrasound in a couple of months! :cp :woot

tricare will cover as many ultrasounds as necessary I had 5 done with my last one, one when I first got preggo, another when I was around 13 weeks or so, then a second one around 15-16 weeks ( it was a level 2 over some possible complications) then he did like 2 more.

Yes this is true. Tricare will cover ultrasounds as long as they are deemed medically necessary. But otherwise, only one healthy pregnancy ultrasound is covered. BUT, if you see an OB or PCM on base, you can have as many ultrasounds as they want to give you.

actually i saw a civi doc because the base we were at didn't have an OB clinic, hell it was hardly a clinic itself. But i meant it as in mine was perfectly healthy once the possible complication was found to be nothing, he just liked doing ultrasounds I guess. I wound up with him when I was almost due with my son and i was 9 months preggo and he gave me 2 ultrasounds before I gave birth. Tricare never said a thing. on base though I only ever got one. :no

:dunno Maybe they were billing it differently? All I know is what they are telling me. Of course I suppose it may be different in diffrent regions too.

Awesome!
I was able to get an ultrasound about every two months during my last pregnancy! Even got a 3D done @ Tripler too.
