View Full Version : 3D/4D ultrasound question
Lckychrmzz 02-27-2008, 05:44 PM About how much does it cost to get the 3D/4D ultrasounds?
The doctor today said she wouldnt even schedule my gender u/s till after my next appt and she said I need to be 22wks. I'm hoping the doctor I see next (which will make the 3rd doctor I've seen) will schedule it for right away since I will be 19wks then. My mom is impatient and might pay for the 3D or 4D. We had one today for about oh a minute b/c she couldnt get the heartbeat on the doppler.. baby moved too much and too quickly so she was chasing it for 10mins and gave up.
Steph* 02-27-2008, 05:50 PM We went to First Look (http://www.firstlookhawaii.com/packages.html)
& got the cheapest package ($150)
I didn't go until I was around 26-28 weeks though. I wanted to make sure I could see my baby and she didn't look alien like :lol

2123wife 02-27-2008, 05:53 PM At my doctors office they are $75. I really wanted to get one but decided against it since we saw what she was at my 20 week ultrasound. I think it really just depends on where you live. I would do a search for your area. Some doctors do think that its best to wait until 22 weeks:sorry Hope you get it scheduled soon:)
Erika 02-27-2008, 05:57 PM Mine was $150. :)
Caimbrie 02-27-2008, 06:13 PM Anywhere from $100 to $300 depending on the place and the package you get.
Mommy2Bailey 02-27-2008, 06:20 PM Mine was 150. One of the pics is my avatar. I have more if you wanna see how they came out.
Lckychrmzz 02-27-2008, 06:27 PM Thats a lot cheaper then I thought it would be.
mrskmw 02-27-2008, 07:20 PM Around $300 is what I paid for it but that included 2 different appointments. They did tell us that the best time to do it was between 22 and 23 weeks.
FTCWifey 02-27-2008, 07:21 PM The cheapest package up here is 175.

You know I'm impatient! lol
mrskmw 02-27-2008, 07:39 PM You know I'm impatient! lol
Yep I know. I did mine a little earlier then they said and I was sorry I did. He said if we had waited a few more weeks we would have been able to see so much more. I know it sucks like hell waiting but if you are able to get a good 3d/4d it will be sooooo worth it!
Mommy2Bailey 02-27-2008, 08:09 PM I know around here you can get a gender one for cheap. I got my 4d at 32 weeks and the pics were great!!! But I could have gotten one just for gender at 16 weeks for less than 100
SOS Spring Sis 02-27-2008, 08:19 PM Ya I did forget to add that just a plain gender ultrasound is usually cheaper but not nearly as much fun as the full 3d/4d ultrasound!
I forgot that I hadnt switched names :rofl
HeatherA. 02-27-2008, 10:38 PM For gender determination, a 2d is actually better than 3d/4d. Most 3d/4d places do them, also and they are MUCH cheaper if that is all you want at this point (gender determination).
Meant to mention that I think I paid $50 at a place here for gender determination at 16 weeks. She said she was only 80% sure it was a boy. Well, since then it has been confirmed time and time again that he is in fact, a boy.
Lckychrmzz 02-27-2008, 10:41 PM I kinda just want the 3D/4D anyways lol I'll debate it for a few more weeks.
And Kara, youre crazy lol
Victoria 02-27-2008, 10:41 PM I paid $199 for the largest package offered. The minimum was $99.
PrincessBlue505 02-27-2008, 11:09 PM I think it really just depends on where you live.
Ya. I don't remember how much we paid, but we got the mid range package, and they gave us a 10% military discount! We got it done at around 25 weeks-it was right before DH deployed and because DH was deploying, the guy gave us extra pics free!
Anyway, wanted to add that the place I went to required my OB to have done hers first. I had to prove I was being seen and that I'd already had my ultrasound done by my dr that they do around 20 weeks to get an overall feel for the baby's health. They said it was so people didn't substitute theirs for my dr.'s (I had it done at a private place not in a hospital), and for liability reasons if any abnormalities were discovered. By having the dr. do hers first, it would be likely problems would have already been found so the 3D place wouldn't be the one finding them or something like that.
Oh, and even at 25 weeks, her face still hadn't filled in with fat that much so it looked weird. We got a good feel of what she'd look like, but it would have been better to wait. I think they were recommending to do it around 30 weeks. I know I was at the very earliest they said it would turn out ok but not great. We would have waited if DH hadn't been deploying-we did it 1 week before he left.

DUH! Didn't you learn that a few years ago? :teehee
Alexis 02-28-2008, 09:27 AM I think it varies state to state and which place you go to.
The place I went to has a full 30min 3d/4d session for $170 and you get a DVD and tons of pics of the session.
I paid $99 for a 20min 2D session with a 3D sneak preview and got two 3d pics and a DVD of my session. But I know people who have paid up to $300 for a 3d before.
