I know the doc says 6 weeks, but that seems like so long. I am feeling pretty good already, but I wanted to see if anyone started exercising early.

I felt good enough long before then too, but I just wanted to err on the side of caution.

I feel fine right now (4 weeks after), but I am going to wait a few more weeks before I hit the gym. I have been up and about doing my daily routine (with the household & kids stuff you know) since the day I came home from the hospital so I don't want to overdue it by going to the gym too.

A new study just came out that said exercise in the first trimester leads to higher rate of miscarriages. Well, we all know that any study can be skued to go whatever direction they want. Lots of people continue to do what they were doing before they got preggo. Old "rules" are don't let your heartrate get above 140, but if you are already super healthy and athletic, I also think that is a little low. I couldn't continue exercising because of my hematoma, but once it absorbed by 12 weeks, I was released. I did cardio on an elliptical/crosstrainer and circuit weight training with a personal trainer. She went by the 140 heart rate rule, but for me that was good anyway.

Your body WILL tell you if you are doing too much, long before something "dire" occurs.

Thanks ladies for all your input. I went on a walk yesterday with the baby and came home and had a LOT of bleeding and called the doctor and talked to them about it. They said I need to give myself more time so I'll wait a while.

I didn't really start exercising until 6 weeks after I went to the doctor. But i started walking my dog again after a week, i just walked a little slower than usual (well, pre-pregnancy usual) and kept it to a mile or less. I know what you mean though, i was anxious to start.

I tried to about 8wks after, but my muscles had not still went in.. and someone had told me not to do crunches because it would push them further out..

almost 3 years later, my muscles are still not back together.. but I still try to do crunches anyway LOL

Yeah, sounds like you over worked your body. That happened to me too, as when I got home I was immediately running around the house like crazy and going up and down stairs, carrying stuff. At night, my crotch felt EXTREMELY sore :lol and I was bleeding a lot.
