Is a military member automatically enrolled in Tricare, or do they have to enroll themselves? I know dependents have to be enrolled, but I was curious about the members themselves.

They are automatic.

I thought they were automatic, but still had to enroll in the area. Like when you move from one regional tricare section to another.

How does the member go about making an appointment for the first time? Do they go online, or call somewhere?
And do they have to make the appointment themselves or can a dependent do it?
And do they just go to a specific medical facility (like Balboa) or are there many facilities and Dr's they can see?

G just goes in as a walkin at the clinic on 32nd.. I'm so used to him having a "doc" on the ship, that I have no clue how it works.. I guess you'd call the clinic and schedule an appointment.

I know they updated G when we all went into tricare... he also doesn't have a tricare card like Cam and I do..

Everytime we have moved, DH has done his own when he checks into a command. Usually they go to whatever clinic is at whichever base they are assigned too. But DH is at Coronado and still goes to 32nd quite a bit for stuff. He has never gone to Balboa, except for a specilist or er.

I am not sure if you can make his appt or not. They changed a lot of things last year. But it doesnt hurt to try, worse they will tell you is that he has to call to schedule his appt.
