I dont know if its just my hormones but this made me cry lol
Sweet Goodbye
He wore his sunglasses on that day
To hide his tear-filled eyes.
I knew that underneath that mask
Were a soldier's silent cries.
He stands tall now.
He’s strong and proud,
But when goodbye was near,
He kissed my head and touched my face
As I begged, “Please, my love, stay here.”
He spoke softly to his son
And finally broke down.
When his tiny baby squealed,
It made the sweetest sound.
“Now, you be good for your mom,”
He ordered his son through tears.
“She’s gonna tell me when you’re bad,
So you be good for her, you hear?”
The baby smiled as if to agree.
My soldier said, “I’ll be home soon.
I love you Little Man,” and then he looked at me
And said “I love you too.”
The time is here, and I have to go.
I’ll call you when I’m there.
Here’s my ring, the keys, and some money
To pay the parking fare.
Time will fly. You will see.
I’ll be home when the year is new.
“I love you,” he said as he walked away,
And I cried, “I love you too."
