My DB is leaving for OCS at Ft Benning in a few weeks. I have no idea what to expect as far as our communication will go. Will it be like Basic Training all over again? I'm hoping we will be able to have a lot more contact than we did during basic. Is their first week "week zero" for reception? Or do the 12 weeks start right away? I would appreciate any feedback from ladies who have been through it with their SO.

My DB is going for OCS for the USMC.
I know I won't hear from him at all for the first 3 weeks until he gets liberty. And then after that I can hear from him on Sundays, and write letters. But thats for the Marine Corps. Sorry I can't help more!

My hubby did OCS summer before last. Communication was pretty frequent, we talked every other night mostly. They got passes a couple times and I went down to visit twice before he graduated. At the end I stayed for about a week and a half before his graduation because he got a lot of time off.

I can't remember what the first week was like, but I remember he got about an hour a night to take care of personal things.

Dh had his cell phone at OCS. We talked all the time, several times a day. He went to Benning also. I can't remember about the first week. There probably is a week of in processing, but if he has a cell phone he should be able to call you then too. :D
