so this is what's going on with gwen's foot. this is WAY improved from what it looked like yesturday. do you think it's just scabby? starting to heal? something i should worry about? she's not limping or licking it or anything.
sorry about all the questions, i've never had a dog with paws like this and never thought about something like this happening once we started day care.

It doesn't look to bad IMO. I would watch it for signs of infection, and if she does start licking it or limping. Otherwise, she should be fine.

it was way worse last night, but i couldn't get her to let me get a good pic. lol
that's what i'm worried about--infection....but i suppose since she's not licking it or anything it's fine? what will it look like if it gets infected?
ETA: i feel so stupid asking these questions. :duh i should know this stuff. lol

I'd rub some neosporin on it, and tape the foot (so she couldn't get to the medicine) until it healed.. I did that with our cat, when he hurt his toe...

My dog had something like that, and it was a foot fungus? I know, ewww. They gave him some moist pads for me to rub on it twice a day (kind of like oxyclean like pads, but a prescription medications).

hard to tell from the pic, but is it dry? it looks like a dry scab. as long as she's not bothering it & it's not bothering her, keep an eye on it & just leave as is.

naw, it's not a fungus. i see fungus feet (that made me giggle :giggle) every day at work.

yeah, it's pretty dry. i'm honestly really surprised that she hasn't touched it once.
thanks for the help everyone!

it looks like it was some type of abrasion. common & no biggie. just leave it alone & keep an eye on it, like i said. licking is bad. putting something on it might induce licking.
dogs are weird about their feet. i've seen a dog refuse to put weight on a foot for days...the pad had a microscopic crack that took me 3 tries to locate.

For infection, you would look for a foul smell, and white or green color discharge coming from the wound, as well as swelling/redness/tenderness.
