DH said there is a rumor floating around Iraq that O-3s who made CPT in 2005 are already being considered for below the zone promotion to O-4! DH made CPT in 2006, so if this holds true he could be considered for Major next year! That would be really crazy.

BTW, DH is Army and I think this is an Army-only rumor.

I have no idea, but for you guys I hope its true. Generally you stay at 0-3 for up to 7-8 years.

My cousin got O-3 in 2004 and is up for major now, will be official come summer I believe. Not sure if that helps, he's deployed 3 times, first one being 21 months, which he said is why...

He must have had good ratings too, DH said it would only apply to those who had the "Promote below the zone" box checked on all their unmasked ratings.

Thanks! I know they are promoting from O-2 to O-3 faster than they used to (DH pinned on O-3 at 38 months I believe) so I guess it makes sense that they would move up the O-4 date too, but the idea that someone could make MAJ after just 3 years as a CPT is crazy! They would have to be branch qualified as well though.
