I bought a GRE practice exam book with CD (containing practice tests). I used that and studied from the book. I think I had to brush up on my math a bit and the book was helpful for that! Good luck! :)

I took the GRE and honestly felt even more stupid when I was done taking it. However, they have changed it since I took it. I really didn't study much because they just wanted scores on file, and they didn't care how much it was. My communication program wanted scores and now my education Ph.D. could care less if I have ever taken it.

Good luck!!!

I used the guidebook. Bought it at a local bookstore. I found it helpful.

I fortunately don't have to take it for my masters program but everyone suggested the Kaplan book when I thought I was going to have to. I actually bought the '08 one and never used it. If you would like it though & PM your address I'll send it to ya'- might as well let someone get some use out of it!

I applied for the software to be sent by ETS. It arrived a week after I took the exam! I made flashcards for the vocab portion. I went through some of the practise questions for the essay and I downloaded some revision notes with excercises for the maths. I only had a week to revise so I couldn't do much!

Best of luck with it :goodvibes

Ugh. I need to start studying for this too. *whimper* God, I suck at math on standardized tests. It always ends up being stuff I've already forgotten!

Thanks to people who posted advice. Even though it wasn't directed at me, I'm gonna mooch off of it!

i don't think i suck at math...i just don't care about it. unlike science, where if i don't know the answer i want to find it, if i don't know the answer to a math problem, i'm not gonna fight with it & don't feel bad about it.

i haven't had a really challenging math class since my jr year of high school (spring 1999). my college math course was basically a repeat of that.

I took the exam back in 2002 five days before it was changed to get rid of the logic section and include the essay section. I used the Princeton Review book which I did not find helpful at all.

My advice for the math section is to take advantage of the multiple choice format and work backwards. It worked for me - I hadn't taken a math class in nearly 3 years when I took the exam and I managed a 660 on that section.

That is what I used as well. I took every practice test I could and brushed up on my vocabulary since that is my weak spot. Good luck!
