How in the hell do I calm Miley down? I have to keep her in the crate most of the day because she was spayed only 2 days ago.. and they also fixed her umbilical hernia so the incision is almost 5 inches long (and remember she is still small) from doing both procedures at once. yesterday you could tell from her running around outside when I let her out to pee she tugged one of the stitches.. it didn't pop.. but it tore her skin a tiny bit and bled a little. They didn't put in desolveable stitches which I now think is a good thing with her. She hasn't even licked or bit at the stitches once so that's a really good thing.. but is there anything I can do to calm her down a little so she doesn't hurt herself? How long should be worry about her popping a stitch for?

You could give her children's benadryl. That should either calm her down or put her to sleep.

Well if a dog is trying to nip on their wounds, vets usually give them that cone thing lol. I'm sure that'd work. It looks uncomfy as hell!

She's not licking or biting it at all... She's just running around too much as soon as I let her out of the crate.

I think the leash idea is the best. You have to worry about keeping her calm for at least 10 to 14 days. After that she should be fully healed. Definitely don't want her to get another hernia. You could call your vet to see if you can get some sedatives for her. They might be willing to get that for you.

Oh the joys of having a lab baby!!! I (L) labs, but they are soo hyper! What does the vet say about it? I would ask about the benedryl, or ask them if they have a mild sedative they could give you for her.
Is there a way you can confine her to one room? I put the baby gates up and have confined Tazzy since last Thurs. in the kitchen with limited outdoorsbecause she was spayed last week as well.
