Excuse the vent, but I just need to get some stuff out. Db is deploying (for the first time) this summer. At first it was probably going to be a July/August deployment, but then they pushed it up. Now he's thinking probably June, but he still hasn't gotten his orders yet. We have no clue when he is leaving, or when he is getting leave and coming home before he deploys. Now, I know that everything is subject to change and that even if we had a date when he was leaving that it could get pushed back/forward. But I am trying to plan for my summer, where I'm going to work, and classes I need to take so that I can graduate on time, and I can't do that because I don't know when he will be home. He said not to revolve everything around him, but I would like to take time off and not have a 2 hour class every night while he's home! I'm just frustrated because there's so much I need to take care of and we don't even have a date yet!

Thanks for reading, sorry to complain

I hate to tell you this sweetie but the date will constantly change. Even up to a week before he deploys. It does make it hard to plan, almost impossible, but somehow things do work out.

Hi... I am new to this web site and to the deployment and man do I feel your frustration... I was talking to my man today... ( he is training down at Ft. Bragg) And he asked if I was sitting down and he said that he was leaving tomorrow.... TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!! and that they were switching his unit and his mission( ya know the one he has been traingin for since June.... ) He likes to say that everything in the military is written in chalk.... I am sorry... I know it is hard.... Hope everything works out....

I feel ya, hon. Your guy is right. You can't plan anything around his schedule because it is subject to change at any moment. Choose your job and courses now, and deal with the leave situation when it finally arrives. There is nothing else you can do.
My DB was supposed to go to Iraq in April, and instead he was sent off on less than 24 hours notice to an undisclosed conflict zone back at the end of February. I suspect that he was sent out with his former unit because he had the skills and experience they needed for the job. Things really can and do change at a moment's notice.
