I've seen post like these a lot lately. But ya.. Either it's bots, or people who stumbled across the site from a google or yahoo or what ever else search.

I think that's really creepy, since most of the subforums are not private. :scared

Yeah, I tend not to post anything here that I wouldn't tell anyone else, but some people don't seem as cautious!

OPSEC ladies :yes That's why we push it the way we do. If you're careful with your words, you have no reason to be creeped out. Most guests appear to be bots (in other words, people who have searched for something on google, then click the link that google brought up in the search) but please do not get a false sense of security online, no matter how close you may feel to people. You never know who is reading and it's not just guests you should be careful with. Always use caution... always.

Wow, You're right. I just logged out and tried looking through our forum and they are all open for viewing. Just not posting, obviously. I wonder why they're not all set to private until registration...:dunno

Because this is first and foremost an info site. Lots of people will type in BAH rates or something like that. It leads them here.
Brandi has posted many times that she likes the open board because most of the search hits are for things like BAH, Housing areas, Pay rates and the like.

I can understand with OPSEC, but a lot of ladies on her post their pictures, put their names, and talk about private health matters, their kids, etc. I know I have. And since reading this post, I deleted my name from my signature to just be cautious and I've tried to find a way to delete some of my threads (is that possible?). There are certain things I won't post because i really don't know anyone on here, but I had a comfort level with this community. Now I'm not going to post as much personal info as before, so I'm glad I saw this thread. I thought that all BUT the informative forums were public, I was WAYYY off. Glad I know now!

Pictures in the photo album are not public, first names shouldn't really matter (and if they matter that much, I advise you to not post them in the first place), last names should never be posted under any circumstances, and honestly I don't think I'd be posting such personal things about kids and health on a public forum that you don't feel comfortable with people reading. Whether someone signs up and lurks under a username or lurks as a guest isn't really that much different, IMO.

You can not completely delete your threads but please feel free to go back and edit them (Edit button is at the bottom of your post).

Ok so this has nothing to do with the post..but, I was reading through it and I keep coming across the signatures that are all fancy lol I'm not quiet sure how to describe them but it looks like they were made on a photoshop program..does anyone have any ideas to where I can get one done at? Thank you!!:D

I put the pics of me and my kids in my siggy. :shrug to me its no different then strangers seeing them on the street. Their names are not posted anywhere on here ( that I can recall). Some people have different comfort levels.

Well, thats up to you and you should use your own discretion but siggies are site wide, so if ANY forum is open to public, your siggie is viewable in there. Like rosebud said earlier, having a picture of my child in my signature, to me, isn't different than taking them out with me to the store or for a walk around the neighborhood.
