View Full Version : Pay
IrishNavyWife 03-30-2008, 07:58 AM I was wanting to know what the actual stats are for people that have and have not had their pay screwed with on a monthly basis. See the poll.
I've seen a lot of posts where it seems like they never get the pay right, but I just wanted to see what the actual numbers were. Thanks Ladies. :thinking
gunsgirl 03-30-2008, 08:25 AM in the 7 yrs we have been married with 5 moves in that time-- not once was our pay messed up.
jen-marie 03-30-2008, 09:40 AM one month DB got paid like 5 times.. and they were all different ammounts lol..
Navywife85 03-30-2008, 09:49 AM once they paid him for comrats and hey werent supposed to so the next pay we got they had the comrats taken out twice.. but no biggy thats why your supposed to keep up with it just in case something does happen and they over pay you then you can set that money aside and give it back when they take it out. they havent under payed us yet.. but we are waiting :lol
Rain. 03-30-2008, 09:59 AM Never. But I'm sure it will happen one day
ours is messed up every once in a while
Becca 03-30-2008, 10:11 AM Other - everytime we PCS there is an issue with something or other.
CassieR1202 03-30-2008, 10:12 AM Our pay has been messed up every 1st and 15th for the entire time DH has been in :mumble
Mandi 03-30-2008, 10:13 AM They have before, but nothing serious that made a huge difference. It would be around the times when we pcs'ed.
PrincessBlue505 03-30-2008, 10:14 AM Every once in a while.
TACAMO_Sweetie 03-30-2008, 10:51 AM Been married over 10 years and have never had a problem with pay.
breechum 03-30-2008, 12:50 PM In 15 years he's been in, never....knock on wood!
Jennifer 03-30-2008, 12:52 PM as far as DH remembers, not once in the 11 years has he been in.
Now, they've messed up DTS and DLA and all that plenty, but not his actual pay.
Pebbles 03-30-2008, 01:54 PM <knock on wood> We've had 1 instance where they OVERPAID us. We let them know about it and had to send in a check for it.
andreacc 03-30-2008, 01:56 PM So far no problems..
Navywife85 03-30-2008, 02:00 PM ohhh i remember this one time omg i was like :shock they over paid us 5,000 dollars i was like omg :rofl well come to find out they were having a glich in the system and everyone was over paid about around the same amount on my hubs boat so when we got paid we had to take out 5,000 dollars in a cashiers check and give it back to them.. :banghead:banghead :teehee
Purpur 03-30-2008, 02:05 PM When DH joined the Army (after a year off from the Marine Corps) they screwed up his pay (paid him as an e4 with no previous years in service).....that was 14 months ago....and we're still waiting on the $1100 in back pay they owe us....sigh. So I'll be going on a letter writing campaign in about a month.
And now they're taking out $285 a month for him to eat in the mess hall on post.....when he isn't living in the barracks, and we have a house off post. So they owe us about $560 there.
BubMunkeyBles 03-30-2008, 02:52 PM We got paid for two BAH amounts a couple times... Instead of taking it back they let us pay it back interest free over 12 months.
USNWIFE 03-30-2008, 02:57 PM We only had a pay problem once. They opver paid on the 1st and fixed it by underpaying on the 15th. The 15th blew but it was only one time.
rosebud* 03-30-2008, 03:00 PM Actual pay issues never, things with his SRB got messed up and we didn't get paid but dh went in and they cut us a check. Other things like over paid BAH but those were resolved quickly. Viewing your LES every month will cut down on the errors so will your dh being proactive in getting any over payments/under payments resolved. Also NEVER count on the military to realize their mistake won't happen.
Mak327 03-30-2008, 03:42 PM ours have all come when he's changed locations/units in th middle of the pay period ...
when he went from RSP to basic he had a problem
when he went from reception (at basic) to his actual unit, he had some big delay
when he got sent home on con leave (and thus amounts changed) it got messed up and he had to pay back.
when he went back from con leave it was perfectly fine.
when he went from basic to ait, he had problems (but he did move on pay day).
so... that's when he's had his problems, and the only ones he's had
Loretta 03-30-2008, 04:22 PM In the beginning, it was HELL. Like...he was getting paid $800 a month, and that "included" BAH. :lol Uh huh.
It took about four months to get it all finally straightened out. No problems since then, though. *knocks on wood*
BLBnJVB3 03-30-2008, 06:11 PM Every once in awhile we've had something happen. It has always been when they owed us money for something. Either they under paid us, didn't pay, or over paid and then had to take back some money (they took out money in our next check. They didn't go into our account and take it out).
MelissaMc424 03-30-2008, 06:13 PM Every once in a great while, and then it's usually only with travel pays or PCS money.
Queen Carly Jean 03-30-2008, 06:37 PM Ive never had a problem. :knock on wood:
Britt 03-30-2008, 06:47 PM Never in the six years he was in.
USCGBoxerMom 03-30-2008, 06:49 PM I *think* we have every rare odd duck here and there but it's not often enough to really worry about it or make it any more often than I have pay issues in the civilian world.
Godders_Girl80 03-30-2008, 08:52 PM Never as far as I know.
Shaky 03-30-2008, 08:56 PM Never since we've been married. Thank God! I don't want to jinx my self though :lol
*tina* 03-31-2008, 10:09 AM Everytime we've moved his pay was screwed up :lol Guess that teaches us to PCS!
cyndilou 03-31-2008, 10:22 AM Other. We just moved to San Diego and they stopped his special "Nuke Pay" and they have not started it up again.:grumpy They now owe us back pay for that since Oct.:wow I can't wait till we finally get that money.:D
farmerschyk 03-31-2008, 07:21 PM once in a while it is.. But for the most part we have been pretty lucky
wb3690 03-31-2008, 07:31 PM My husband's current command is really good about pay. They have people coming and going and honestly we haven't ever really had a pay issue since being in this squadron.
The last squadron......lord.....I never knew what we were getting. They would always underpay it seemed......or paperwork wouldn't get turned in on time. Especially when he deployed. Pays wouldn't always kick in at the right time.......then you'd have to pursue it when they got back.......which i didn't mind getting a huge lump sum of money, but it was exhausting. That command taught me to watch his LES though.
They overpaid us BAH in housing for 6 months...........I caught that one but they wouldn't fix it correctly for such a long time. When they finally figured it out I had put it all aside and we had to give them the money back......I wanted to smack them all in the backs of the head.
When you PCS there tend to be alot of money issues......but we haven't PCS'd in a long time either.......7 years.
kt*hed 03-31-2008, 07:54 PM DH and I got married in August and then he deployed in Oct. and his pay was messed up every paycheck until this past month!
Brandi 03-31-2008, 08:05 PM We've had a few issues, but I'd say no more than once a year or so. They've only messed up badly twice. The other times it's been pretty petty problems that were resolved fairly easily.
IrishNavyWife 03-31-2008, 09:17 PM thank you ladies, keep those responses coming...
Lizim1981 04-04-2008, 01:33 PM My DH was supposed to be getting COMRATS for 9 months, never saw a penny of that. That was 2 duty stations ago, so that's never gonna happen.
Took them 3 year, yes I said YEARS, to deposit his check in the correct account. His check would go into the account that he had when he was a kid and neither of us could get the money out without his mother's permission b/c of the way that bank had his account set up. That will do WONDERS for your marriage.
Dopal 04-04-2008, 01:41 PM It only happened when he first got in. That was over a year ago. Maybe we are due for another mess up :giggle
Ellen 04-04-2008, 01:47 PM I was in the Marine Corps for 10 1/2 years and my pay was never messed up. I may have had an entitlement delayed a time or two, but my pay was never messed up.
USAF_Gal 04-04-2008, 01:51 PM In the almost 10 years DH has been AD he has never had a pay issue and the 4 years I was AD I never had a pay problem.
mackenziesmommy 04-04-2008, 01:52 PM I voted other, but now reading responses I should have put never...his PAY has never been really jacked...yeah we had to get paid straight from the boat because somehow his SRB went in funny and they said we got over paid and the navy wasn't issuing a check, but the boat did on payday.
NikkiD 04-04-2008, 02:51 PM In 15+ years I can't recall any major problem except back in the late '80s when we started direct deposit. They would tell us the next payday it would start going directly into our bank account, then it wouldn't. This happened about 3 times in a row but it there wasn't any actual problem with his actual pay.
rosebud* 04-04-2008, 02:55 PM I voted other, but now reading responses I should have put never...his PAY has never been really jacked...yeah we had to get paid straight from the boat because somehow his SRB went in funny and they said we got over paid and the navy wasn't issuing a check, but the boat did on payday.
the same situation happened to us they claimed we got overpaid on his first SRB but the day after payday dh realized we didn't get paid so we got a check issued.
Heather 04-04-2008, 03:11 PM We never had issues with his normal pay. We had and are still having issues with moving money. Each time we moved there was problems with the allowances.
KatReborn 04-04-2008, 03:13 PM i went with every once in a while, he has been in since september and we have had our first issues
SezzySue 04-04-2008, 03:13 PM He has never had an issue and neither did I when I was in
FTCWifey 04-04-2008, 05:41 PM never
*Samantha* 04-04-2008, 06:54 PM Can't say that we have ever had issues with his pay
Brightstar 04-05-2008, 01:00 AM I would have to say never!
WordensWife819 04-05-2008, 01:03 AM Not that I know about... and I usually keep a pretty good eye on it!
Boyzx3 04-07-2008, 02:01 PM Our biggest problems were when we were PCS ing.
The first time was when we left Korea. We were in CA for a school and they skrewed us big time. One time our pay was only $500.
The last time was coming here. I swear they couldn't get anything right. Again, one time our pay was only $500.
The cruddy thing is, when they skrew up, you have to wait for them to get their act together. It took about 3-4 pay checks to get it worked out. But when they think you have too much of their money, they are quick to withhold it from y our pay.
