View Full Version : Medical Board AG2Wife 03-30-2008, 12:35 PM when someone is being medically boarded out, how long does the process take? rosebud* 03-30-2008, 12:36 PM depends. My friend waited about 8 months. they gave him a 12-18 month wait time though. AG2Wife 03-30-2008, 12:38 PM gonna shoot you a PM Michelle, oh master knowledge woman of all things :D Jennygirl 03-30-2008, 12:58 PM because my husband was medical boarded, they did the board and we were out in two months. It depends on how fast the paper work moves. rosebud* 03-30-2008, 03:01 PM gonna shoot you a PM Michelle, oh master knowledge woman of all things :D lol i got it and responded. :D AG2Wife 03-30-2008, 04:22 PM thanks! wife-n-mommy 03-30-2008, 05:39 PM FOREVER!!!!!! No, sorry.... but my husband is being MedBoarded and he was told this in December, and well, he still hasn't even been placed on the MedBoard Barracks list yet. The last estimated time he was told was a year and a half and this was at his last appointment about 2 weeks ago. It seems to be a VERY SSSLLLLOOOOWWWW process!! And it seems to be very hard to get any deffinate answers from anyone! Caimbrie 03-30-2008, 08:53 PM It seriously varies. I know people that it has taken months and I know people it had taken YEARS... My neighbor who is a douche bag.. her husband has been here for 2 years on medical hold waiting to get out. A lot of things play in... what the issue is makes a huge difference. They have to resolve whatever the issue is.. to the best they can before they discharge you. So if you require several surgeries they cannot discharge you until those are done. AG2Wife 03-30-2008, 11:36 PM thanks! Hubby is gonna go talk to his LPO tomorrow after work. Hopefully all will go well :) Jamie826 03-30-2008, 11:38 PM There is a new process that is shorter.. well it is supposed to be shorter, they told DB it would only take 90 days.. he is one of the first groups to go through the new program so far we are 60 days in and should find out.. but who knows it could end up taking longer! AG2Wife 03-30-2008, 11:59 PM :giggle I'd hate to doubt the Navy but they told him 60-90 days for his VA disability stuff & it took exactly 5 months. :rolleyes We'll see what happens. I just want to be able to get health insurance lined up before he gets booted. Saigon 03-31-2008, 01:08 AM It seems to vary with everyone. DB was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in Qatar last August, returned state side. And he didn't get the local decision until November or December. He contested it and it went to the next level at Lackland. He didn't get his formal review date until March, and now we are STILL waiting for a final decision. |
