I was wondering if any of you know if you can combine paternity leave and block leave? Our baby is due May 10th. My dh's block leave begins May 11th. it IS good timing, but at the same time I see it as he is entitled to his paternity leave (i believe he gets 2 weeks) no matter what, because he just is. Everyone is when they have a chid lol. Well anyway, I am hoping he can take his 2 weeks of PL directly before his BL. which would end up with him on leave for 5 weeks straight (which i dont see a problem with considering that he's deploying for 15 months!) anyone been through this or know anything about it? I could REALLY use his help the 2 weeks before we have our baby. assuming that our baby wont come early, but you never know. Can they just say "sorry you cant take any paternity leave"?? that would piss me off soooo much. but this IS the Army we're talking about lol. THanks in advance for your replies! :)
I'm not 100% sure, you might check with your FRG leader and they could put you in touch with someone who could give you the straight facts on it :)

they said there was no such thing as pl?!!!!!
when i was pregnant he couldnt even come.. they said they'd see what they could do but they didnt do anything and that is why i came all the way to korea to have the baby together!..
i really pray your hubby can come home for pl.. that would be awesome.
but it makes me mad everytime i think about what we had to go through.. they were going to let him take regular leave but then they said he couldn't because childbirth is not an emergency.. yeah can you believe that bs..
but that is HIS chain of command your hubbys could be different..
ask around.. or have him ask his command.
good luck girl.

:lol No...
My hubs was deployed for 22 months straight and didn't get anything above the standard 2 weeks R&R. Everyone is treated the same..
Paternity leave on a deployment? It is counted against any leave time that he has (R&R) and they don't have to grant it, they can refuse it if he's needed, and reschedule it for when it's good for Them..
He'll get his 15 days just like everyone else.

lol oh no no no he's not deployed. He wont deploy until June. right now he's doing some training at another base that's why i have a ticker lol. (i really just wanted a ticker!)
I'm so sorry you both had to go through that! that's horrible. Well now I feel guilty asking for extra leave for my hubby :oops knowing how much worse it could be. i'm sorry! But thank you for the replies and I'm sorry if i touched a sore spot.

My DH had to use his vacation days in order to have time off when I had DD.
From what it looks like it all depends on what his commander says is okay.
Good Luck....
If it is right before a deployment he might not be able to take time because of certain training events....

I'm not really sure on that, but I'll pray it all works out for you guys. It would be awesome if he could combine everything. Good luck with everything!
