View Full Version : NFL and Long Hair
Chevy_Gurl 04-02-2008, 09:51 AM what do you ladies think?
Should it be banned?
Their reasoning is it blocks their name tapes. :rolleyes
If they ban it in NFL should it be banned in other sports too?
LaneyBug 04-02-2008, 09:55 AM Nah, but obviously if they somehow get hurt because of the hair (not sure how) it is their own responsibility.
Jennygirl 04-02-2008, 09:55 AM most sports dont have men with hair like that.
I am for it because who the heck wants to be pulled down by their hair. I think they should tuck it in something.
Mego0427 04-02-2008, 10:01 AM If I played in the NFL I wouldn't want to have long hair because of it possibly getting pulled. I don't care how they wear their hair though, they are big boys they know the risks. If they want to keep their hair long who cares. Thats why they have numbers, I don't think I have seen too many players who's hair goes down to the middle of their back.
I know the Yankees have a policy about hair in their players contract. When Damon (Cough: Jerk ) went to play with them he had to cut his hair and shave his beard.
Aunt Sponge 04-02-2008, 10:01 AM :giggle Aren't there more important things to worry about than hair in a sport?
Gee - if it blocks the name then why dont' they just put the name on the bottom of the jersey or on the helmet?

Not today. It's Wedensday. We need some humor and liven this place up. Stop being so serious and debate the world of sports and other trivial aspects of life.
Like are french fries really better with a chocolate milkshake
HeatherNichole 04-02-2008, 10:13 AM I think it looks STUPID...but who are we to tell a grown man how to wear his hair?
Aunt Sponge 04-02-2008, 10:14 AM LOL - yeah, us military wives generally think it's dumb to worry about the jocks!
We married the real men out there that had to be smart to get placement!
Oooh - ouch - below the belt!
rosebud* 04-02-2008, 10:16 AM I think it looks stupid and i secretly hope each game to see some one dragged down by their hair. :rofl

I personally say let the guys have it.
Aunt Sponge 04-02-2008, 10:19 AM LOL - Yeah, I agree, it looks dumb but *shrug* whatever! It's a sport where they get padded up just to knock eachother around a lot...Looks matter?
Jennygirl 04-02-2008, 10:34 AM I also want to see people pulled around by their hair LOL
RonniesWifeJen 04-02-2008, 10:36 AM I could care less about hair blocking name tapes but what I do care about is the long hair being harmful to them. I hate the idea of someone using their hair to take them down.
I really feel like hairstyle is the players call.

The NFL rules that if it's on your shoulders its considered part of your uniform, ergo if they grab your jersey and your hair is there too then there can be no penalty if they grab your hair. Since they had the rule that you can have your hair anyway you have to take the consequence. Could you imagine if it was a penalty to pull hair that was on the jersey's? No take down would be available and how many more players would have long hair.
phantomfg 04-02-2008, 10:41 AM Chop it off please. The cutest guys on the team have the short hair, don't cha' think?
Ellen 04-02-2008, 10:41 AM CUT IT!

I do have to agree with that. I have always loved the buzz cut!:giggle
Elizabeth 04-02-2008, 10:44 AM I think they should have to cut it if it blocks part of their uniform. It's called uniform for a reason.

phantomfg 04-02-2008, 10:51 AM Not to get all serious and riled up for a debate, but don't you think that sports and discipline kind of go hand in hand? For the same reasons the military has its servicepeople cut their hair, so too should pro athletes, I think. Order, conformity, teamwork, standards of dress...that's part of the game.

That is true, but if anyone remembers the NBA introducing a dress code when coming to games suits or khaki's and polo's. The stars threw a huge fit over it. But since when do you argue with a man singing your million dollar paychecks right?
