View Full Version : Daddy Dolls.... Mrs. Villanueva 04-03-2008, 05:10 PM Wait for the poll.... Please!!!! Have you used a daddy doll for deployments? Do they work? PrincessBlue505 04-03-2008, 06:05 PM DD didn't like it at first. Then she liked it for a while when he's been gone. Now it's just another toy though. It stays in her bed and she sleeps with it, but I don't think she'd care if it was in the toy box right now instead of her bed. Traci 04-03-2008, 06:12 PM I didn't know about them until a month or two ago and my kids are to old now. I think it is a good idea for the younger ones. Proud_MPWIFE 04-03-2008, 06:53 PM Waiting on my MIL to order them, but seeing my kids are older, I cant see them carrying them around everyone, maybe just sleeping with them. amazinggrace 04-03-2008, 10:58 PM My children are 2,4,and 6. When Daddy first deployed they took the Daddy doll everywhere, now mostly they sleep with it, but they do like the voice recorder especially at night. They also take it on trips. Del 04-03-2008, 11:35 PM Other: Don't have kids, thus haven't tried it. But I saw Petsparkle's daughter with hers... and OMG do they work. She (petsparkle's dd) loved that thing, and from an outsider's perspective, it really seemed like it worked wonders for keeping her happy and helping her remember daddy. sandykay 04-03-2008, 11:39 PM My kids haven't used them, but I know that our base (some volunteers) make them for the kids when the parents deploy. I'm just lucky the DH hasn't been deployed since we have been married, I know he probably well later this year or early next though. PrincessBlue505 04-04-2008, 12:02 AM they do like the voice recorder especially at night. DD loves that part. She learned to take it out of the pocket though. When he left for winter training this year, DD had the voice recorder out and was pressing it over and over. She was even talking to it like she thought he could hear her through it. It was her favorite thing for a while. PrincessBlue505 04-04-2008, 12:03 AM Also want to add that I still think Daddy Dolls are a great idea. I got one for my 1 year old niece for while my brother is deployed. She LOVES it. She lays on top of it and cuddles it and snuggles with it. Genna 04-04-2008, 12:06 AM My kids love them, but have gone through phases with how attached they actually are. There was a point where my 3 year old brought it EVERYWHERE with him. Right now I'm not sure where they are, lol. I think they are a great idea- I totally think that they have helped my 19 month old really recognize his daddy- one of his first words was even Dada while pointing and kissing his Daddy Doll. Totally worth it!! 4MyLove 04-04-2008, 03:51 PM My husband was deployed for a year. My daughter didnt go anywhere without it. The daddy doll went everywhere with us, to the potty to the grocery stores. She was so attached she wouldnt go to sleep unless daddy was sleeping with her too. He is home now, and when she misses him while hes at work she just gets her doll and then things are all better! I HIGHLY reccamend the daddy doll!1 Dani 04-04-2008, 04:26 PM Other - I am ordering one for Weston in the next few weeks. imitationlife 04-07-2008, 04:19 PM We don't have a daddy doll but we do have a flat daddy. My 5yo loves it. He took it show n tell at school and everything. We use as a tool so that hopefully my ten month old daughter will "recognize" Daddy. I*<3*Capt*Jack 04-13-2008, 09:28 PM I have never used them but after googling them I thought they were a wonderful idea that all three of my kids would love. I can see them not going to bed without them! I saved the link as we are facing a deployment next year. HuskerFan 04-14-2008, 12:10 AM I wanted to get DD one SO bad but by the time I discovered them it was too late to order it....daddy would have beat the doll to us! luvmysgt 07-05-2008, 09:32 PM My son LOVES his daddy doll.. We take daddy everywhere we go.. Fireworks and eating dinner daddy comes! |
