So DB and I were talking this morning..and he said he got a text from his friend.

Well DB and his friend weren't stationed at the same place in Afghanistan...b/c one was in a flight unit. Anyway, he got a phone call from his friend, and apparently he was so drunk and crying to my DB about how he's such a horrible person.

Somethings happened over there that have really messed this guy up, and DB thinks he's on the verge of suicide.

So we were talking about it, and I told DB that he needs to tell his friend to see a therapist or get psychiatric help, because this is obviously beyond DB's control. But DB doesn't know how to tell him that he can't keep calling him at 1 in the morning because he can't help him with this. So..do any of you ladies have any suggestions on how to handle this? What should we say this guy? It's one of DB's best friends and we really want to make sure that he listens to us and follows through and gets help.

ugh, I am so sorry. That is truly heartbreaking. Is there anyone that your DB can contact in regards to getting him help? There has to be a CO.

well yesterday..when I was talking to another of DB and mine's mutual friends. I told him everything that was going on, and he said he had noticed it too.

Apparently his wife had told him to say something to him when he was over a few weekends ago. whoooooooo....so I'm thinking that we should all come together as a group and just have a long sit-down talk with him.

that sounds like a great idea. I hope he agrees to get the help he needs.

Yeah, a group effort might be more better as oppose to a one on one barrage! Good Luck!!!

It's hard to try and think that things were so bad and it's still effecting him. I heard a few stories of DB breaking down, but never in front of me. Some pretty intense things too. He told his mom some very serious things that just made me sick! But I never asked him about it and he's never mentioned it to me. It's almost like he just decided to let it all go. Hopefully he can come out of it, keep him in your prayers. I feel so bad for anyone who suffers this way after deployment :(

I know TOO much on PTSD.....and I know every case is different. All I suggest is supporting him through his pain. :hugehug First thing first...he NEEDS to NOT drink. My DH no longer drinks due to that. It only makes it that much worse. Good luck! :pray

If he is on the verge of suicide your DB needs to notify his friend's COC right away because there are safety measures in place. It feels like betrayal, but I think your DB would rather have that than have his friend suck start his weapon. Sorry for the bluntness, but we lost someone recently because of something like this--you can try talking to him--but that may only push him over the edge. ((hugs)) for you and DB
