I'm thinking this would be really good with fresh-cut strawberries, too, and yogurt instead of pb for those who are allergic.
Peanut Pitas
1 package (8 ounces) small pita breads, cut crosswise in half
Peanut butter
Strawberry preserves or spreadable fruit
1 large banana, peeled and thinly sliced
1. Spread inside of each pita half with 1 teaspoon each peanut butter and preserves or spreadable fruit.
2. Fill pita halves evenly with banana slices. Serve immediately.
Makes 8 servings
Honey Bees: Substitute honey for spreadable fruit
Jolly Jellies: Substitute any flavor jelly for spreadable fruit and thin apple slices for bananas.
P. B. Crunchers: Substitute reduced-fat mayonnaise for spreadable fruit and celery slices for banana slices.
