OK. DB is coming home VERY soon so I got the info. from the FRO on homecoming. Even though I will have a DOD sticker on DB's truck, I have to still stop (along with everyone else) at a POV checkpoint once I am on base. What is a POV and what does it consist of? This is my first deployment so I am at a loss..
Thanks!

privately owned vehicle.
each base checks differently. some of them just need your License, registration and insurance.....some will break out the mirrors and dogs and check your car over....

Here, if you have the stickers, the checkpoints are just like gates. You go through and usuually only have to show your DL. But usually if you don't have stickers you have to get a pass with your DL, insurance, registration. I used to take DHs truck when we were just dating on base and since he had stickers I just had to show them my DL.

Have your license as well as his insurance and registration ready. at our base they just look at the sticker and wave you through. But they may stop you and want all of those things. Good Luck.

Kimmie, are you going onto Camp Lejeune??
I am having the same problem trying to get DH's ready to go to get a decal and stuff...since HE is not here I can't get a decal, which means I'll have to go and get a pass, and have all that stuff with me....
From my experience with Camp Lejeune, they are pretty strict with getting permits, and passes, but once you have them they basically just ask for ID and sometimes registration and wave you through.
good luck!

POV is just YOUR car, truck, van, etc. :) Yep, the acronym stands for privately owned vehicle.
