View Full Version : New Policy on Closing Threads
Brandi 04-10-2008, 07:59 AM Our policy on thread closures has changed and I'd like to inform you of those changes.
Thread closure requests will no longer be honored unless extreme circumstances warrant closure (threats, harassment, etc). When starting a new topic, we hope everyone will be open to the variety of responses that may follow, including those which may not be exactly what was expected or anticipated.
Along with this change of policy, I'd like to remind everyone that this is not an open door to be rude to other site members. Staff members may still use their discretion to close threads that have either gone off topic or gotten rude, in nature.

What about deleting threads that aren't duplicates?
Mrs.Ordinance 04-21-2008, 10:54 PM Awesome :wink

The only place where deletions are allowed is the secret garden. Everyone in there should have the ability to delete their own thread if they wish to. Other than that, nope.

Isn't that just passively aggressively making a comment? If you have something to say then own it.

Pretty much :lmao
browneyedbeauty 04-21-2008, 11:05 PM Ok.
You have no idea to know when someone has hit their personal limit. By not allowing people to ask for their threads to be closed, you just allowing catty bitchy people to extract their pound of flesh.
You're allowing members to have fun at one particular member's expense. Not exactly the definition of support.
Find that funny Brandi? No? Figured not. I know this won't be the popular opinion but I HIGHLY doubt I'm the only one thinking it.

On the flip side, I think a lot of people start bitchy threads with the sole intent of stirring things up, then asking for it to be closed when everyone is fired up. We took a poll on this and an overwhelming percentage were highly in favor of not allowing the threads to be closed.
Don't like it? Oh well. :D
browneyedbeauty 04-21-2008, 11:13 PM One thing I didn't miss about SOS was your excessive sarcastic use of smilies. It was kinda one of the things I liked about the Womanhood.
Oh well. There's an x for a reason. Out of sight out of mind.

Why are you so rude? This is hardly a "hot" topic.
Victoria 04-21-2008, 11:20 PM Seems like someone is back to her old ways... :no

Looks like not much has changed since the last time you were here.

To be quite honest, I think that is a pretty popular feeling right now!

I took your advice and :eek. I'm so confused, why would you (browneyedbeauty) come back to a site that you apparently hate? Seems like you want drama. :no very bad.

Please just leave then. It seems like you are hell bent on being a flat out b*tch to everyone on this board. You provide no support or even valid advice. Toodles
Shannon Marie 04-22-2008, 12:08 AM sounds fair to me :tu
mrskmw 04-23-2008, 01:33 PM Ok I have a question and I'm really really not trying to step on any toes it is a genuine questions. What do you consider to be extreme circumstances? The reason I ask is because threads are still being closed when a post request it to be. Of course it doesn't matter to me one way or the other but I really was curious about how all of this was going now.

I was wondering the same.

Hmm... which threads have been closed? I haven't closed any, so I wasn't aware, but it may be possible that one of our moderators missed the change on policy somehow.
Extreme circumstances are usually when there are threats being made or when things have escalated to a point where one of the staff members feels it's truly necessary or in the best interest for all parties for it to be closed.

It was the BR thread made by Amanda. That just happened to be the last one I saw but it's happened a few times.
Amanda 04-23-2008, 01:42 PM I'm sorry I got mine closed today...I shouldn't have opened it in the first place :(
Becca 04-23-2008, 01:46 PM I'm sorry I got mine closed today...I shouldn't have opened it in the first place :(
My fault, I had forgotten about the change. I'm not going to reopen it, but remember in the future that if you open it, it's yours.
Sorry Brandi (and everyone else).
mrskmw 04-23-2008, 01:48 PM I just wanted to put out there that I wasn't agreeing or disagreeing either way I was just asking for my own clarification.
Becca 04-23-2008, 01:50 PM No you're totally right, and I was completely in the wrong. I honestly just forgot about the new regulation, and frankly I don't keep up with BR much so if someone wants to close something they started, I figured it had just gotten ugly (since the BR usually does).
But again, sorry to those that were upset - I take full responsibility. Feel free to open another BR thread about it if you feel the need - I promise not to close it :rofl
Green~Mammy 04-23-2008, 02:10 PM Becca ignore my thread in the BR I should of checked here first LOLZ.
Amanda 04-23-2008, 02:36 PM Sorry becca I totally forgot about the closing post thing. I had seen quite a few closed so thought it was vetoed against or something.
erickson007 04-23-2008, 03:06 PM i dig the new rule :D
Kaymara 04-23-2008, 03:09 PM I also closed one since the rule change by accident. Habit I guess and I forgot as well. But it wont be happening again. SO I guess this is a big reminder that if you open it, be prepared to hear the good and the bad. Because it likely wont be closed
Loretta 04-23-2008, 03:14 PM Excellent, thank you guys!!
