The Alamo, The Buckhorn Saloon( you pay admission, but we loved looking at all the "stuffed" animals and their Bonnie and Clyde Exhibit).. The San Antonio Zoo is much nicer than the Houston zoo, there are also japanese gardens (beautiful plants and koi fish) and a small train that tours the park. Have dinner on the Riverwalk.. I highly recommend Casa Rio, and the Rainforest Cafe... There's so much to do.. Fiesta Texas is there too...

When are you going? If it's this month, you should be able to catch "Fiesta" too.. it's neat.

OOH, I forgot, the Institute of Texan Cultures is cool too!

I miss it.. .we went at least once a year for a weekend. San Antonio is one of my absolute favorite places!

The street food at Fiesta is so good... the last time we actually got to go at that time of year was when I was pregnant with Cam and we went for our anniversary.

We stayed here last time: http://www.clarionhotel.com/ires/en-US/html/HotelInfo?hotel=TX778 It's only a couple blocks off the River...

My DH is from San Antonio. I went there for the first time back in 06. Definitely go to the Alamo and the Riverwalk! DH talks about Fiesta Texas a lot so I guess it must be pretty cool :-)

I love San Antonio. I just got back from there today. The zoo is nice and you have to go to the Riverwalk. The Alamo and Fiesta are also good places to go. And market Square.

we usually go to the rivercenter mall and begin walking from there. it is quite a walk, very long. but its beautiful and there are tons of places to eat and buy things and bars. hard rock cafe, coyote ugly's, dicks etc, and hooters among others. its a great place. i personally love the theater section which is a ways down.

If you're looking for the Exchange that is better, I like Ft. Sam better than Lackland (and definitely better than Randolph AFB).

Oh, and Simmy, did you go to the Riverwalk around Christmas time? The lights are gorgeous!

Oh, I forgot to mention my favorite place to eat... it's called The Gristmill River Restaurant and Bar in Gruene. OMG, it's way out of the way but the food is fabulous! Totally worth the drive.

Oooohhh!!! You HAVE to eat at the Magic Time Machine! It's the coolest place ever, hands down. Liam is still talking about it, and we went four months ago!

I miss Ft. Sam :( We loved it there! You guys are going to have a blast!

The North Star Mall is WAY better than Rivercenter, IMO. ALL the good stores and the parking garages mean less tromping around.

Acenar is a great place to eat when you do hit the riverwalk, though! Yum:drool

LOL @ Magic Time Machine, DH & I went there for prom!

If you go to the Zoo make sure to visit the Chinese Sunken Gardens next door, I hear they just renovated it.
A good place for great Tex-Mex food is Priedras Negras. I was born and raised there and the only thing I miss is the food :lol

Ripley's, Alamo, Riverwalk, Fiesta Texas

Yes, the Ripley's Believe it or Not is great, and so is the wax museum!!! They're both within walking distance of the Alamo.

And San Antonio has a Pat O'Brien's now!!!! Same drinks as the one in New Orleans....and they're uber good!

I might be a little late on adding to the San Antonio list, but you might want to stop in and eat at Mi Tierra's. It's so good and the decorations are so pretty! I LOVE S.A. BORN AND RAISED!
