I really had a good time in PB at Typhoon's w/ Bex & Rach a couple years ago. I haven't been to a club since though

My BFF loves On Broadway. I've been there, but wasn't too keen on the $20 cover-charge!

Depends on a few things. How much do you want to spend, what kind of music do you like, how old are you and what kind of crowds do you like?

Like the PB clubs I was into when I was in college, but way too nutty for me now, its a big college kid crowd. But if you go there, beware, cars have a tendency of getting broken into in that area.

Downtown its a tossup, there are some kind of trashy clubs, and some nice high scale ones, and some in between ones. But be ready to pay the downtown prices. Especially when it comes to parking!

There are other clubs around San Diego that are not in 'club' areas, just depends on what kind of music you like.

Gaslamp you can walk around and there is such a wide variety of places, it's crazy! Jazz bar next to a punk rock club next to a irish whiskey bar. We had a lot of fun and bounced from place to place! :five

Well most clubs are 21+, LOL I guess what I meant by age was like college age or a bit older.

There are quite a few new clubs in downtown that will play top 40 and hip hop. there is one club that is not my favorite, but its cool because you have a couple of choices of music and its not off the wall expensive. It used to be E Street Alley, but I think now its called Red Circle or something like that. Its on E Street in downtown, between 4th and 5th Ave. There are 2 dancefloors. One has a lot of techno, the other has mixed Hip hop and top 40, I believe its $15 to get in. On Broadway has several dancefloors also, but a lot pricier. My best suggestion? I would say get dressed up, go to downtown, walk around downtown early (like before 9pm) and you can do a little club hopping to find the one you like best :). They usually don't start charing cover until about 9:30 or 10pm.

Yes, I did see a couple of hip hop type bars there. We kind of bounced between them all, because I like the pubs/bars and my sister likes the dance clubs and my other sisters likes really laid back Jazz bars and cigar bars! :roflmao

I don't know of the exact name of the hip hop bar. I don't remember any of the bars actually! :hehe

Go to Johnny V in PB... It's a downtown kinda club right on Garnet Ave. A great atmosphere, but drink prices and cover charge are cheap. There's a huge bar, plenty of places to sit, and a big dance floor. They play hip hop after a certain time. Highly recommend you check it out!!

On Broadway and Deco's are the shit for hip/hop (had vip for both)

Mooses is good for a college feel (wonder if the old man still dances on the stage)

Ole Madrid isn't too shabby either.

I looked at Broadway's website and it says there's an event going on, on friday. Does anyone know if any of the floors are still open for clubbing?

Yes there is hiphop in the gaslamp quarter. It is downtown San Diego. As for covers, I have no idea. When we'd always have VIP rooms or a connection withint the club that we scooted right on in, no charge, no wait! ;)

update~~~~

Thanks girls for all the info!!! We ended up going to On Broadway!! Way fun!! We didn't pay a cover charge because we got on the guest list online :) The cover charge would have been $20. The drinks were pretty expensive.. but then again it is a really nice club! It was about $10/drink. But yah.. it was really fun!!! :)

Ha ha, I have to laugh. It's been so long since I've been to a club. When I was in college I used to love to go to PB and just check out the places on the strip. These days I'd probably still go to Sinbads (if it's still there) but that doesn't sound like what you are into at all. I'm also a fan of country bars. I know, I'm not any help. Good luck at finding a good place. I feel old now.
