how do you pre-pack before the packers get there....?

i just put things that we will be needing/not wanting the movers to take aside. I don't usually pack anything up since sometimes they will just repack it anyway :no

I have never had packers move us. We always were some what close enough to do it our self with the help of friends. the one thing I always recommnd is to go through and throw away everything that you can. Like if I have not seen it or used it in 2 months its in the trash. I have not done that before and when I get to our new place I end up realizing that we moved half of the stuff that never needed to be.

no you literally just leave everything as is. they will take it apart and put it together when they move you in. also when they come to do the survey ask them if you should take stuff down or not. each moving company is different. one wanted us to leave everything up on the walls, others wanted us to take everything down. it just depends.

What I did was designate certain areas that they would not pack and put up signs telling them not to touch those areas. I also showed them all of the areas when they got there.

We had an attic in that place so we got all of the stuff down. Some stuff we had all boxed up since it was up there so they didn't have to touch it.

This time I have been buying those tubs and organizing all our stuff in the basement in those and labeling them. I'm also going to pack any fragile stuff myself. I had several things get broken or ruined because they just threw the suff in the boxes. For instance, they put a screw driver in with our lamps. The lamps got all nicked. The lamp shades they threw at the bottom and they got all smashed. Several fragile pieces were busted as well.

I'll have them pack our clothes, boxed food, etc. stuff like that. Everything else though I'm going to do myself. I may say to heck with it since I'm getting things ready now and we still have over 1 year and finish it all myself.
