okay..so next friday i'm going to san diego and I have to stay in a hotel by myself friday night because DH has duty.. and i don't have my military id yet so where is a good cheap motel to stay in san diego?? im trying to look online for reservations..and I need some opinions!! <3<3

Is he going to get you an ID while you're out here? If so, you don't need an appointment to get one at Balboa's ID lab.

Yeah if hes your DH he can check u in to the base lodge...and get you a pass too if you need it.

You don't need an ID to get onto Balboa (just some form of ID, like a DL), but you'll need a Form DD1172 if he can't go with you. He has to get that prior to you going to the ID lab. They will not grant you an ID without either that form, or him actually being with you. The 1172 is available at any ID lab..so your DH needs to go by there and have one printed up.

Without the ID, if you stay in Navy Lodge, you'll be limited to sitting in your room taking in the amenities, since without a sponsor or ID you can't do much.

Stayed here 2 days before we PCS'ed They were decent rooms. The hotel is on Coronado.

When we stayed there in September the cost of the room was 99 a night. Probably going to be the cheapest you can get close to base besides the Navy Lodge.

If you can't book there, we stayed at the Best Western on the Island the night before he left for deployment. It is caddy corner to the road that takes you to the front entrance of the base. It's a very easy walk and the rooms are pretty nice. They give a military and Triple A discount.
