I posted yesterday asking some questions about Murhpy Canyon Housing. I called the office and there is a six month waiting list. I don't want to move into an apartment and move again six months later. So...Can anyone recommend any apartment complexes or townhouses that are close to Miramar that are pet friendly? Oh, and preferably not full of college students having parties all the time. Thanks in advance!

We lived there for a year. I absolutely loved it minus the fact that guest parking can suck at times, and that there weren't many places for kids to play but there's a park down the street.
We had the 2 bdrm, 1 bath floorplan.

Do those apartments have carpet? I know its a crazy question but I've had hardwood for three years and I absolutely hate it! I like the floor plan of the 2bed/2 bath so I'll have to check it out when I get there.
Have you ever heard of a complex called Montanosa or something like that? Any opinions?

We lived in Montanosa for a year waiting to get orders and then move into housing. We have two large dogs. We got the 2 bedroom 2 bath floor plan on the first floor, which gives you a slightly larger patio area. It was hard as we went from having a house with a yard for the dogs, but we did it.
The problem with Montanosa is that the parking spaces are SMALL. I drove (at the time) a large dodge truck which was difficult to park in their spots. We did get a one car garage, which was nice.
Overall I would say Montanosa is nice enough... hard to find apartments out in town that take larger dogs (ours are 65 lbs and 85 lbs).

I know i'm not much help, but make sure you're keeping your rent down! You have to make 3x the rent in one month in order to sign the lease and whatnot, they dont care if you're military (portofino, Monte Vista).. I just wish you the best of luck, we went with base because we were sick of looking and being ripped off square footage-wise! 1800 dollars for 737 sq ft? screw that! i have a 1200 sq ft base house! :D

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll do a short lease until I can get into housing. I just don't want to keep packing up and moving!

Krystal, housing should pay for local movers to move you into housing from your apartment! That's how it was for us when living in Hawaii. We lived out in town, then a year later moved into housing.
