Lckychrmzz 04-19-2008, 08:44 PM Congrats on orders! USCGBoxerMom 04-19-2008, 08:45 PM thanks! rcwant2be 04-19-2008, 09:10 PM I love seattle. No kids so I can't help ya with school suggestions other than db went to tahoma which he says is a country school. Lol. Housing is expensive. The bus system rules. Jennygirl 04-19-2008, 09:29 PM SHUT UP!!! Is it actual seattle or the area!! Too bad not over on this side!! YEAH!! Cassaundra 04-19-2008, 09:36 PM sweet! we are moving to ft lewis this fall.....i think we are getting an apartment in tacoma though. It is nice to see some other SOS'ers in the same vacinity. the housing looks really iffy in this area as far as pricing and avaiblity goes but the apartments we have found are cheaper than what we pain in birmingham, al and look better too. congrats on the orders! USCGBoxerMom 04-19-2008, 11:24 PM SHUT UP!!! Is it actual seattle or the area!! Too bad not over on this side!! YEAH!! He's going to the ISC in Seattle, so we are looking to see where we are going to live. I have a bud moving to Bangor so I will be passing through there...A LOT!! Plus...your what a ferry ride away?? LOL We may be thinking about housing in your area though. DH will have to commute! Cobysmom75 04-19-2008, 11:25 PM Congrats! parents 04-20-2008, 12:12 AM Got DH's orders yesterday and we are Seattle bound. Anyone have any ideas on where to live?? Good schools etc?? Awesome!!! Are u willing to pay for private? East-side sucks... if u were down to Tacoma I say Bellarmine I am an Alum from there. If not private try to get into lynnwood or some snohomish county school. IDK a lot about Seattle schools... u can pm me or email me freedomfromfate 04-20-2008, 03:14 AM I love WA...it's the best Jennygirl 04-20-2008, 11:24 AM We found our house on craigslist! missybee77 04-20-2008, 11:28 AM we lived near renton (the nicer side of town) and then moved to tacoma, which is gross and sorta scary. there are a lot of nice places around there though....everett is awesome, bellingham is better and really nice. we are trying to get back there :) Becca 04-20-2008, 11:29 AM Yaaaay for Seattle! :) The only thing I know about the school system up here is that South Seattle is not where you want to be. North Seattle schools are much better off as far as test scores, etc. , and from what I gather there is quite the racial divide :( There really are a LOT of communities near Seattle that have their own school districts and aren't too bad of a commute. I don't know where or what ISC is, but if I can be of any assistance to you getting here, finding somewhere, meeting for coffee :), let me know! USCGBoxerMom 04-20-2008, 12:20 PM Thanks Becca! We are not sure where we are going to live yet...the ISC is downtown Seattle he's not going to be really working there, but at the District but apparently he has to drive to ISC and catch a shuttle because there is no parking. rcwant2be 04-20-2008, 01:21 PM Thanks Becca! We are not sure where we are going to live yet...the ISC is downtown Seattle he's not going to be really working there, but at the District but apparently he has to drive to ISC and catch a shuttle because there is no parking. if the ISC is downtown, he does not want to drive there! traffic is AWEFUL. the bus is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better. i live in skyway (a crappy neighborhood) but I'm only a mile from downtown Renton (someone else mentioned it). There's a huge park & ride transit center there, so i leave my car in the garage (free) & hop a bus to work. Becca 04-20-2008, 01:51 PM Personally, after working downtown for 4 years, I don't think DRIVING downtown is the bad part - the bad thing about having a vehicle downtown is finding PARKING. It's $12 a day in the cheap lots on the outskirts. There are places in the heart of downtown upwards of $20 a day. But if he's not working downtown then it's of no consequence anyways :lol The public transportation system in Seattle is great though, no question about that. Here's their website: http://transit.metrokc.gov/ USCGBoxerMom 04-20-2008, 03:23 PM Thank you guys! We are now in the process of trying to narrow down where we want to live. I found a BEAUTIFUL house, but it's an hour north of the city...ugh. You all have been a wonderful help!!! missybee77 04-20-2008, 06:22 PM good luck! i am admittedly very very jealous of you right now. ugh. i wanna go home. lol FTCWifey 04-20-2008, 07:12 PM I would try to stay on the Seattle side of the sound if I were you only because the commute is :puke Plus there is NOTHING to do on the other side. Congrats on getting orders though! Del 04-20-2008, 07:35 PM Dude, come up North to Shoreline with me! It's a great neighborhood, and I hear the schools (at least the high schools) are really good. Plus, only about 20min (40 with traffic) from downtown. :D Either way, can't wait for you to be in my neck of the woods. I hope you like it here! Becca 04-20-2008, 07:46 PM Del when are we going to meet up? :D |
