View Full Version : R&R Question ...
Britgirl 04-23-2008, 03:02 PM Sorry to bother you ... but does anyone know when R&R begins within a deployment? My hubby just text and said due to his issues he was going to be the first person to go on R&R in June. Is that correct? I wasnt sure what the boots on ground policy is and I just worry they are saying things to try and stop him being down but it isnt really true.
Thanks Ladies!

KevnSue 04-23-2008, 03:06 PM My So isn't Army but from I have seen, I think it can be any time during deployment. Some come home 2months after they leave for R&R. But again I am not an expert on this.
How is he doing now, any better?
Britgirl 04-23-2008, 03:09 PM Thanks for asking ... im not sure really as we havent spoken, just text. He seems happy he gets to come home for leave in June (lol i dont think he is thinking about the fact that it then wont be a year until we see each other but no matter!) but he says he got yelled at for telling me about his issues and that when they are insulting him its in jest and not meant in a rude way .. um yeah right lol.

BrittanyJo 04-23-2008, 03:10 PM it varies, Some people have it after 2 months of being deployed. It's not really set in stone.
Britgirl 04-23-2008, 03:12 PM Thanks, suppose i will just have to wait and hope they have been honest with him. They are sending him to counselling again and he is going to see a specialist about his foot before going where he is supposed to.

Yeh it doesn't sound like "jest" to me, poor guy. I really hope he starts to feel better though it must be rough, not only being over there, but having other guys being assholes to. I would have him tell them when to sling there hook!!!
Britgirl 04-23-2008, 03:51 PM Lol i did suggest it but there are tons more of them than him! He is usually such a strong person ... i mean he got through it last time. Its just being injured and other things have knocked him over the edge. (I had a miscarriage Sunday and I think this made things worse for him)

I am sooo sorry to hear about Sunday.:hugehug
I hope that your husband gets the medical attention he needs, and that his R&R is when they say (it can happen anytime from 2 months on from my experience).
hey dawn,
i really don't know about when the first r&r is available, i know my Ryan is getting his after 6 months!
im so sorry about sunday, how are you holding up?? i so hope your fella get to come home!! until then im sending you big hugs! :hugehug
cerau2 04-23-2008, 04:36 PM First R&R became available after three months in my DBs unit only because they moved FOBs.
I am sorry to hear about your troubles. Please know that you are in my prayers!
Proud_MPWIFE 04-23-2008, 04:41 PM How it worked with DH unit, it went by rank, lowest rank went first, and then worked thier way up, so some people were stuck eithier taking R & R 1-2 months in because that's the only thing available or not having it at all.
Ours is 8 months in( we picked that date) and thankfully it wasnt a popular date and was available by the time his pick came around.

SAMSET 04-23-2008, 06:08 PM I know that for my DB's deployment of 15 months....R&R started after 2 months of being in their deployed country and will stop 2 months before they redeploy home...I'm sure it varies though with Brigade and deployment length...?
Britgirl 04-24-2008, 12:35 AM Thank you all such! He called last night for a few minutes, it was so unexpected :). He said originally he was supposed to have R&R Sept/Oct but due to his issues they decided he should be one of the first so now its June/July time...! Im actually happy about it as i need to see him, i know it means we have a long while to go after but i can deal with it if he is ok!
Thanks again for all your support, it really helps!
