DF had me read this book, Generation Kill by Evan Wright which is about the Marine's first invasion of Iraq, I read it and loved it! Now, its coming out on HBO in a 7 part miniseries in July!!!! :cp
Now I dont recommend reading it while your SO is over there, I read it before he went all the while remembering that it was the FIRST invasion and how much it has calmed down since then, so they say (i havent gone so i dont feel im an authority to say that)...some parts were still hard to read, obviously. I probably shouldnt even watch it but it cant be worse than the book I guess, we'll see how I feel when it comes on but Im definitely taping (or TiVo-ing) it for DF JUST IN CASE he wants to see it when he gets back in Sept.
