Incoming poll

How many of you would like to have a deployment pals thing thing. It would work as a secert sister support system if you are going through deployment!
Little upbeat notes and letters. :)
Let me know what you guys think and any ideas for it! :mrgreen

I voted yes because I think its a great idea. But I would not be participating due to the fact that our deployment is winding down :wink

I think it would be a great idea. If we ever get to that point. We are just seperated because the military wont let us live together (he is on temp duty orders that turned into a hold and they wont change them and he is on the west coast and Im on the east.) I think it would be great if there were something like that for those of us that arent with our dh's. or so's

everyone has a little bit different version of what a deployment is. Your away from him. And thats super hard. Only part you do't have to deal with is the worrying about him being in the middle east and wondering when he'll call again!

I'm not sure how we would work it. Whether it would only be deployment girls supporting each other. Or we would left some girls that aren't on deployment help with the supporting.
I'm up for suggests about how this is going to be run if it goes through!
I think is should be for a month. And during that time you support your person. You would have to be supportive and commited just like in secret sister. At the end of the month we relieve everyones sercet pal. Then we start over that why girls that just entered deployment can join in.
Should there be a limit on who should do it like 250 posts? Or should we take everyone on there word for the first round and see how it goes?
Tell me what everyone thinks about anything!

I didn't think it had a specific time limit. We stayed in touch through Xmas and then nothing.:dunno Since mine will be home soon I am gonna pass but it is a great idea and was fun.

I dont know about a post limit, seeing as we all could use support when our SO's are gone, but I guess you could see how it goes. I think it would be nice to include others who have gone through deployements as well. I know that I never have, but I have been seperated from my DH the entire time we have been together and struggle with feeling alone all the time and think I could benefit from it, But I would totally understand if someone would not want me to be apart of it.

I put "not a good idea" just because it isn't something I could see myself participating in. I much prefer to lean on my friends here for support and things like cheering me up. I am lucky enough to live on base and have the support that I need. I do however recognize this could be of great help for others, and many women on this site would probably benefit from something like this. :)

I think we could try to pair up some people with girls that have been through deployment but aren't going through it right now with girls that are going through it then. idk guess it really depends who signs up!
The first round i guess awould be completely experimenting to see how it goes! I'm really excited and I want to get this started with!)

That makes me sad! Might as well give it another try though. I'm stubborn and don't like to give up! I'm guna make a thread and start to put everyones ame in and have them fill out an application type thing i guess!
