I'm doing great today!! Besides that it is all of a sudden 53 degrees in west Texas after being like 90 yesterday!! DH went by our apartment complex today and said I did a very good job picking it out from what he could tell. YAY for doing things right!!

How everyone doing today

I am doing pretty good just hanging around I did pack and do some laundry.

I packed a little, and threw away A LOT. It's hideous working a full day then trying to come home and pack for several hours afterwards. At least where I am starting to look like I have a living room floor again! Not just boxes and clutter!! If the maintenance guy at these apartments comes in any time soon, he may faint!!

Yeah.....it's a big deal here. Also 6th Street in Austin is just about an hour away from us....big time bar/music scene. Hood is actually pretty central to all of the major attractions around Texas.....I'm getting more and more excited by the day about being there soon!!

Haha....tell me about it!! Just wedding gifts alone could probably take up about half of a moving truck!! I am putting sticky notes on every box: purple for staying here in storage, pink for garage sale, orange for taking with us. It's helping me....I think. Haha. I would just like for all of my stuff to magically to reappear in our new apartment instead of all this mess with boxes and such!! Yuck yuck yuck.

If we are all going to be there by the beginning of June, I say we have our first official get together on June 14th or 21st. We won't have to meet at anyone's home for the sake of unpacking and messes, haha, but maybe for lunch on that Saturday or something....are yall up for it?

Welcome to SOS! I'm sorry about your current living conditions, but think, it can only get better (at least in terms of square footage!) from here! I'm Kelsey, I'm 24, my husband, Curtis, is 22. So....we've already paid a deposit on an apartment and everything...and now DH calls saying that he's not sure he wants to live there. I know that there were some stupid things on my part (basing it off of online pictures, and not knowing for sure which entrance he would be needing) but now it looks like all my ideas on moving stuff in next weekend are put on hold. Uggh....I'm beyond peeved right now...mostly because of the fact that he was SOOOO sure of the apartments just days ago.

So....we've already paid a deposit on an apartment and everything...and now DH calls saying that he's not sure he wants to live there. I know that there were some stupid things on my part (basing it off of online pictures, and not knowing for sure which entrance he would be needing) but now it looks like all my ideas on moving stuff in next weekend are put on hold. They are the Clear Creek Meadows apartments in Copperas Cove that are very similar to yours in Killeen. It was up between the two of them and I went for these because they had about 100 extra square feet compared between the two of them. I was so proud of myself and they had one of the types of apartments that we'd be wanting come open the same day I called them and everything....it seemed so RIGHT. And now DH is being told they are overpriced, the pictures on the internet are probably just a scam, etc. etc. and of course he's listening to all of these opinions! I've looked at all of the other complexes that I could find on the internet and was just grossed out by some of them....

I told him that I just wanted to feel safe (gated) and that I wanted a washwer and dryer. I've been in an old apartment for so long and was looking forward to something more modern.

Uggh..way to go DH for ruining my day!! And now he took so much of my time arguing about looking for something else, I won't even have any food for lunch!! GRRR.

Oh....and he's supposed to go look at different ones today, and go actually look at the apartment that we had our name down for. I'm keeping my fingers crosses that NOTHING will compare. And I kind of pulled a sympathy card anyways and told him that "I've willingly given up so many of my dreams (career, being near family, etc) for the Army, and all I wanted was a chance of a home. Thank you! I told him that if we don't like it, can't afford it, whatever, we'll move in 6 months. All he's going to be doing is sleeping there anyways!! I really hope he's just dumbfounded today when he goes to look at how well I did do and how he can't find anywhere better! I have lived here forever. Those apartments are only a few years old. Also, if that falls through there are lots of townhomes and duplexes (not gated) but are in safe neighborhoods that are inexpensive. Some evern come with washer/dryer. We own our house and our mortgage is 650 but with taxes it comes out to be like 930. Just let me know if you need any websites.

I have lived here forever. Those apartments are only a few years old. Also, if that falls through there are lots of townhomes and duplexes (not gated) but are in safe neighborhoods that are inexpensive. Some evern come with washer/dryer. We own our house and our mortgage is 650 but with taxes it comes out to be like 930. Just let me know if you need any websites.

He said "well maybe you can come next weekend and just look at places." I said "I'm not going to be just going down there and wasting gas to look at places when we already had a place to move into for that weekend." UGGH. I'm just livid at him.

Well as long as nothing changes between now and the 15th we are moving into a house in the Chaffee Village on post. They said that dh will go sign the papers and get the keys on the 15th.

Yeah, I know! BAH would barely cover it, but I was going to go start applying for jobs already next Friday. One of his sergeants was going to take him by these places that were "pretty nice" a few years ago when he lived in them and paid 400 dollars for rent. I asked him "did he live there with his family?" DH was totally caught...he said "yeah, I think so." But I highly doubt that!!

O no!! Get something for less money! Our rental (with a nice backyard and a new dishwasher/oven) is only $600 a month. The rest of the BAH pays for cable/internet/cell phone bill ect and some left over for savings....

haha we spent TWO WHOLE DAYS looking at housing...I picked out the rental I liked...two days later after I had gone home, he called and said he found the house!!

Next Friday is when we will start moving in. I won't actually truly be living there until the beginning of June though because of my job. But I will be there the weekend of the 9th and the 16th getting stuff done. I am just trying to prove to my DH that it's not going to take forever like he is thinking getting from CC to where he needs to be on post. Lord knows he doesn't have an intrinsic GPS - and that's scary considering his MOS!!!

Yeah, alot of people live in Killeen because they think it will take forever from CC. But we have a friend in Killeen and sometimes it takes him an hour to get to work because of traffic.

It depends on where you live in relation to what gate. The maine gate is the worse. I don't know if any of you ladies have been up when people are trying to get in the am for PT but it's scary! lol The lines are sooooooo long. Even people with phantom passes have a long wait!

I am graduating from Univ of Southern Maine on May 10th with my bachlors in Social Work! :grin: We live in Killeen off the Fort Hood airfield gate...I am moving down to Killeen on the 26th of May (after our "family" wedding)

My neice and her boyfriend are coming to help so thats great. I am watching my nephew next week so I know that i am not going to get any work done in the house.

DH drove to see his dad.....I just got done watching What Not To Wear and am about to go to bed (what a bum, but I've got a head cold!!). Tomorrow I'm going to go shopping and get my hair done....and Sunday, back to packing!!

DH is visiting his dad still...had to go tonight to a high school sports banquet and make a speech/give an award in honor of his brother who passed away.

Dh went and explored Killeen and he had dinner Friday night with one of my friends from our days at Fort Polk. She and her 3 kids meet up with him at Burger King the two oldest were 3 yrs and 6 months the last time we had saw them. Know they are 6 1/2 , 41/2 , and almost 3. Dh sent me pics. I can't wait to see her again she lives about 30 miles from post cause her dh is in Korea she will be leaving in Dec/Jan timeframe when her dh comes back from korea. I am still cleaning and packing so that I can watch my nephew the first part of the week and then head to ATL for the rest of the week.

I am planning the wedding. I only gave you ONE small job and that was to send out the CUTE "will you be my groomsmen cards" I had made. Thank god your wife took matters into her hands and asked them FOR YOU. :wowsers:reallymad:handup

Well, as DH was driving to his dad's this weekend, he blew a speaker out on his new truck. So today he wanted to go and buy a new speaker....he has like 70 dollars in gift cards, and with the move, money is tight, so I told him, giftcards only, don't spend anymore money. He called telling me the prices were 70, 80, or 100 (or 200 plus!). So I said, get the 80 dollar ones...with the tone of his voice though, he was NOT a happy camper. UGGH. Then I said, "so can you not hear anything at all now or what?" And he said "no, but it's more quiet, so I have to roll my windows up when I drive so I can hear it better." BIG FREAKIN WHOOPTIE DO!!! He didn't end up getting them, because they didn't actually have any in stock....but uggh...he is going to have to stop living like a bachelor!!!

Yummm....Chili's sounds good right now too. DH is planning a date night for us on Friday. We're supposed to go to Olive Garden and then watch Ironman. Yep, my birthday turned out pretty good even though my hubby is gone!

My husband bought me a new camera for my birthday...a Canon Rebel XTi. I thought I had to wait until our stimulus check came in but he tricked me! I'm SO excited! The UPS guy delivered it today!

Annnd...I'm eating Rosa's for dinner! LOL I had to eat some mexican food in honor of Cinco de Mayo!

So I just finished my LAST class! YAY I was so freaked out that I wouldn't pass, but I talked to the teacher and he's like no you are being silly, you have a B average! :)

So now I'm just hanging out in the computer lab till 8:45 when I have to go to work. (an overnight) blah. I dislike my boss. A LOT. ugh.

DH went to travel today! We have our move date set for the 15th but when the moving company calls me tomorrow I think we might change the date for the 21st because we don't want the moving van to get there before we do. The "army" said it could take 10 days, we'll see! lol I am so excited it's all coming so fast! 14 days till I see my hubby! YAY I miss him so stinking much.

Hahaha....I can so identify with that!! DH can usually just settle for any ole fast food place...he has gotten better though, at least when I'm around!! I'm a Texas Roadhouse junkie though!! Anyplace that will give me some good chicken, a sweet potato, and a good frozen margarita, and I'm there!!

Yeah, time frames have just changed from 15 months to 12 months. I'm worried too, but we both are set on keeping positive about it.....I'm sure it makes it harder on you though because of the fact that you are already away from him....

It is kind of hard but we get to chat online, talk on the phone. It would be alot nicer if I could see him and hug him and kiss him but if all I have is talking him on the internet and on the phone it makes me happy still.:dorksmile:goodvibes

Yeah, that's all I really have for the moment too. I will luckily be moving with my husband within the month, but I have been long distance with him for the last 10 months.

I am probably going to be long distance for another year or two :sigh till I graduate collage
