Wow...Its time for me to start packing. It's kind of sad. I've decided that since I'm moving into our first home, a nice one, that I should probably get rid of a lot of the "junk" I've accumulated. It's going to be hard, since they're are a lot of memories attached to it. I think this is the time for me to transition into a nice adult home, versus a college age, young adult apartment. I mean, seriously, who needs 30 sets of "beads" laying around? And like 3 dozen dried flowers from every wedding, funeral or whatever occasion I got them from? I've been such a packrat over the years, but I really think its time to get rid of a lot of this stuff. I feel guilty though, like Im throwing away memories.

I went through this. And have been going through it. I am moving us (yet again!) and every time we move I throw things away. I realize that I physicaly wont have it but then I realize that I never really used itor even looked at it, it was just stashed away. So I throw things away knowing that I still have them in my heart. And of course there are some thigs I can't part with and never will. I don't care how much dust they collect :D

I'm going through this right now too. It's hard to trash some of this stuff, but I know I don't want to have to unpack it later really either.

take pictures of the things you want to remember but what to get rid of at the same time?? then put all the pictures into a collage and frame it and make it into art! :)

What I do because it seems like everything I ever own holds sentimental value. I have 1 box of useless stuff I don't need but cant throw away. I don't un pack it or hardly even open it but I have it there for those days when you need the memory. It never fails if I throw something away 6 mos later I'm regretting it. All you have to do is get a box and pick and choose.

For example you said you have a lot of beads, pick one and put it in the box, same with the flowers. You can downsize without getting rid of it all! :)
