Hi ladies,
My husband received orders to Ft. Lewis...I was wondering if we were able to claim both vehicles for a dity move. He'll be driving from his ait and I'll be driving from Florida....will they allow us to claim two vehicles? Thank you for your help.

It depends on the rank and branch. When we moved to our first duty station we got paid for one vehicle only and was paid for travel from our home of record. Then we got paid so much per person for food and lodging. We are Navy and they do things differently from branch to branch. I'd have him contact dispersing (that is who handles money in the navy) and they should be able to answer any questions you have. :) Good luck!

As long as the Partial DITY is pre-approved, you should be able to drive them both. You were married when the orders were cut, right? And he's at an unaccompanied duty, right? Then, you should be fine.

Do the orders cover you? If so, I would guess it would cover both. Ours did. We drove on separate days, from the same location though, and both were covered. It was a crazy high amount too - I was happily shocked!

how this will work since you are traveling from two different places:
you will need to be approved for 'seperate" travel.
this will result in higher per diem for you -- BUT you may only get the mileage from his duty station to the new PDS-
so for instance: he is traveling from Va- to texas- it is 1400 miles
you are traveling from Miami to texas 1900 miles-- they will only pay up to the 1400 miles ....
and you will get about 65 cents per lb for the partial dity, as long as you do exceed you total weight allowance.

My dh does'nt have hard copies of his orders yet....his levy brief is friday, so he'll know more then. I am authorized BAH for Florida, so dont they go by that distance? I am getting so excited about getting back together (we just finished our 2nd deployment last Sept!) So I know I'm jumping the gun on all this info...but you ladies have been through relocations before....I want to make sure we can get ALL were entitled to....these cross country moves can break the bank.

it will be decided by the orders: BAH is usually based on duty station and if you were able to get BAH for where you are instead you may still have to go off his DUTY STATION..
this has alot to branch specifics and your finance office will tell you when the orders are cut.
