I don't know about the rest of you ladies here towards the Northern part of San Diego, but this heat wave is already killing me and it is only 10am. I just think waking up sweating and feeling like this mound of head is holding me down is just gross. I mean come on! It's only April. Save this heat wave for July and August when we know to be prepared for it. :)

It's warm, but not unbearable yet.. we're investing in a kiddie pool and I bought a sno-cone maker the other day.

It was hotter in late Aug/Sept than it was in July last year... We're strongly considering window unit A/Cs ...

Oh no! I'm coming to San Diego on Thursday to do some house hunting. I'd just gotten used to the idea that it won't be so bad without A/C.

Dammit. This thread is making me reconsider some of the homes I'm going too look at.

It's supposed to start going back down tomorrow. I think today is supposed to be the hottest.

Seriously! I live in Rancho Penasquitos next door to you guys and I can't believe it is already 85. I can't wait to get to work where I know I might have to wear a sweat shirt since the AC will be blasting.

I remember that well in TX.. add humidity to this heat, and in the summers, add in a wind that feels like a blowdryer and you've got HOME for me! Our AC bill was HUGE!

G laughed when I came home from Ralph's with a 6 pack of Bud Light...just waiting for it to get good and cold now..

I had some major cleaning to do today so we've just stayed inside. The kids did attempt to go to the park this morning, but they only lasted 10 minutes. Dd layed on the couch and complained about how hot it is. She is lucky we don't like inland. :giggle

I grew up in Bonita with NO a/c!!!! I STILL try to persuade my parents to get one installed. :giggle

As long as you have fans in your home, you're ok!!! Just don't like way in-land w/ no a/c! :lol

I've got 11 houses lined up that I'm seeing on Thursday and Friday, and roughly 6 of them DON'T have air, which might have been the deciding factor for me.

But if you say I shouldn't need it ...

Now. Define "inland"? The homes I'm looking at are in Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, Encinitas, Carmel, and Coronado. I guess it would get pretty darn hot in Poway and Rancho Bernardo, huh?

I don't do heat well....so If it were me I would choose to have A/C in all of those locations. It may only be a few months of the heat, but for me that is long enough to really want the a/c.

Yup....HAHA!!!

Coronado is good, because you'll have the ocean breeze. Not to mention you'd be safe from the fires...HAHA!!! Living in Poway, RB, RP you'd be around dry brush...

Encinitas is fairly coastal. I'm not familiar was Carmel.

I'd highly recommened staying on the coast or borderline coastal/inland. :) Also, with my parent's house, it ALWAYS got hotter in the upstairs, while the downstairs remained cooler. So that's another thing you'd want to keep in mind if/when looking at a 2-story home w/ no a/c. :)

Sheeeeit. I just saw a "100.9 degrees in Chula Vista" thread, and that tells me ALL I need to know. lol
My husband will never forgive me if I got us stuck in a house with no air, in the middle of a heatwave. Been there, done that, really are too old to have to deal with it again.

It will be hilarious if the heatwave is still happening on Thursday, and some sweaty real estate agent is trying to convince me that no, you really don't need air in SD. :lol

I'll only consider it in Coronado, or somewhere coastal like Encinitas.

even in more coastal areas in can get some pretty hot days....I used to live in vista and have been in Oceanside (near the beach) many many times and it gets in the 90's or higher there too.

I live in the Poway, Carmel Mtn. Ranch, and Rancho Bernardo and Penasquitos area. I'm like on the borderline of all 4. This is the first time growing up in SD I have ever had A/C and I'm so greatful we do. This area is considered inland and it gets warm. Where in this area have you been looking or have stuff lined up?
The schools here are excellent though and the neighborhoods are great. The drive to the base isn't bad. Have tons of neighbors that work at North Island. I do all my shopping and base stuff at Miramar which is no more than 10 mins from me.

Its gross here on base. We spent most of the day outside in the kiddie pool and sprinkler.

The kicker is our base housing has been 'teasing' us for the past month with the addition of a/c's. I went in to ask the progress and they said some super high up military dept (can't remember which one) has put a delay on the start time. Bastards!!! :reallymad

I grew up in VA... this is where it comes from.

Take a watermelon, chunk it up, put it in an AIRTIGHT container and pour either rum, sangria or whiskey over it. Rum works better, though ;)
