WrenMarie05 04-28-2008, 03:27 AM :scared I don't want to annoy anyone, but this move is still scaring me. I will be moving to San Diego the end of next month and I don't know many people from there. I think this support group is the greatest idea. I'm again, really sorry if I come off as whining, but I am so terrified! I'll be in the 92123 area code so anyone near or based in the Miramar area, you ladies would rock to get to know!
I still don't know why I am so scared, I have a Marine on my side but still!.....
:tears I'll miss home something awful ....:sadeyes
CarolinaHokie 04-28-2008, 03:42 AM I don't know anyone from the area but I just wanted to offer a :hugehug and say that who cares if it sounds like whining...that's what we're here for. :D
PeppermintRei 04-28-2008, 03:47 AM :hugs Just hang in there, there are ladies around there, but I'm sure they're not awake at this time of night! You'll do great and I'm sure you'll meet people there!
WrenMarie05 04-28-2008, 03:50 AM :depressed Its got me so worried. The road trip is the scariest part.... I'm in KY so its a literal cross country trip... 32 hours if it were non-stop
Thanks. Really.... this network has done so much for me :)
I cant wait to see my Marine.....
USNWIFE 04-28-2008, 03:53 AM Just keep an open mind. Coming from the MidWest to the West Coast will be an adventure!! Good Luck.
WrenMarie05 04-28-2008, 04:06 AM I'm driving out with a friend, and we will fly her back when we get there. But its supposed to be very pretty, I'm hoping to see things I have never seen before. (I have never left this state for more than a week at a time....)
Bridget<3Avery 05-02-2008, 09:56 PM I live around the Miramar area. PM me if you'd like. I wouldn't mind getting to know some new people. I've lived here all my life. My db is in the Navy all the way down at Coronado but is currently deployed. I have a few friends up here that I've known since I was a kid but they aren't always available to hang and sometimes it gets pretty boring up here.
wcchick712 05-02-2008, 10:25 PM My husband and I drove from Michigan, it took 32 hours, and we drove almost all the way through. We started to fall asleep at the wheel so around 8am on the 1st of Aug we slept for an hour in the TX welcome center.
I am new here too, and honestly, in my neighborhood, I dont think i'll ever get friends. Why? cause everyone has kids and I am the WEIRD one without. Also, its not just marines that live here.. its airforce, navy, army, and coast gaurd and GUYS are too stubborn to hang out with someone of the other "sorts".
But i'm here! I'd be willing to do coffee or lunch or whatever... I know how moves are.
From my drive from Twentynine Palms (our first duty station) to here, i was bawling, because i was so scared of the "NEW" that i'd be facing.
LittleBit84 05-02-2008, 10:36 PM I live about 45 minutes north of y'all on Camp Pendleton. I need friends tooooo!!
PM me if you want my number
Kaymara 05-02-2008, 11:10 PM Like I told ya before. I live on Miramar. So feel free to PM me anytime ;) I am always up for getting together
Valkyrie 05-03-2008, 03:20 AM It's a big step but you'll be fine, I think there are a lot of members on Miramar:hugs
LovinMySkidKid 05-06-2008, 10:58 AM I'm at Pendleton, but Miramar is beautiful and nice. I'm down that way all the time because my Aunt lives just over the "hill" in Poway. Driving cross country isn't scary, just make sure that you gas up everytime you pull over for food and rest and whenever you feel sleepy, get out and walk around or stop for the night. Just make sure to mind the speed limits and be nice to the truckers, they'll be nice to you. I just drove from PA to CA a few weeks ago with my 18 mos old daughter...It's nothing (then again, I've made that trip about 8 times now).
But if you ever want to hang or chat, just PM me.
Kt-did 05-09-2008, 06:32 PM I'm near Pendleton... not technically on it, but close enough. I grew up in Orange County so we found a place in the first city north of Pendleton that is still OC. I'm not sure what Miramar is like really, but Pendleton is awesome, and I love the OC.
I'm sure it'll be a major adjustment for you though, so feel free to PM me if you ever have any concerns or anything.... And that's open to any newbies to the West Coast!
MikesWifey 05-11-2008, 01:57 AM I already told ya to just let me know when u want to hang out.
sandykay 05-11-2008, 01:59 AM I just moved to Utah and there is no one on here at Hill AFB. I am all alone. You'll be ok sweetie. :hugs
Brightstar 05-11-2008, 02:06 AM I am not in Sd yet but moving there as soon as Dh gets back :D Don't worry! I am sure you will find tons of friends there :hugs
